    Fall Newsletter

    Personal Note
First I want to appologize for the delay, and my lack of play in game these past weeks. I have moved(almost done), dodged the lay off bullet at work to then get promoted for interim position. All that and I still will not have my internet up until this weekend, if Bell can get it right.......Thats a big if. I am also taking this opportunity as a bit of a break, since logging in isn't easy. How ever as you will note below I have made sure the guild was in good hands.

    Guild Merger
I want to belated welcome "Companions" into Brains and Brawn. Thulek and team have the that very hard choice to look for a new home, for one and all. I can opnly hope Brains and Brawn can live up to such a high standard. We pleased to have you aboard.

    Guild Website
Always forging new ground, we have launched a guild website. Yes, Brain and Braen always going where everyone wishes they could go, or have already been... One of the two.

    Guild Leadership
Due to my inactivity I have promoted Berik to full leader, and Thulek is welcomed as Co-Leader. Knowing the guild is in good hands while I am away makes it easier. I also made sure Berik has full control of all the guild assets, such as the Guild Hall and the three Crafting Resource Houses.

    Guild Communication
As before my Teamspeak server is up and running for one and all.

    New Year News letter

    Happy New Year Vanguard!!!!!!!

I want to start out by as a guild thanking the entire community for such a great year in game. From building of B&B and the construction of our Guild hall it has been a tremendous time. Second I want to thank the Dev team, their efforts, trials and tribulations and most of all just putting up with us as players.

With a new year a head of us we now can sit back and chart our course. Guild saw unprecedented growth with new membership over December as a great way to finish off the year. With help from the MMO Gods we can hold onto many of them, keep them in game, and maybe even see new subs!

2014 will be an interesting year for MMOs in general with the release of Elder Scrolls Online. Though I see a massive intial player draw, like all MMOs of its core design, they will soon return longing for the deeper more rewarding experience an MMO like Vanguard offers. We will see the release of EQN Landmark, the hunt for more EQCash. I do not see this as anything I am interested in, but some may find it so. 2014 is also an auspicious year for us old school MMO vets of EQ and Vanguard, both created by Brad McQuaid, as he is launching a kickstarter project for a new old school MMO (https://twitter.com/Aradune?refsrc=email), one to watch.

Hope to see you around Telon, happy adventures!

Oooh. A new mmo by the master Brad huh? Didn't hear about that one. Another one I've been trying to keep my peepers on is the kickstarter mmo that the brain trust of DAoC has started.

Hi Exmortis! I am a complete noob who bailed on this game due to the bad impression I got about 5 years ago when it first launched. Now I feel bad that I left so hastily. I hadn't really met anyone in-game, and it was a busy time in my life. I wish I would have stuck it out.. Anyway, I have finally decided that I'd like to come back. I'm looking for a deeper and more social MMO experience, and after looking into the game again, I'm remembering why I was originally drawn to Vanguard. Brains and Brawn seems like a cool group of people - and I love crafting, so I'd like to get my foot in the door! I'm currently at work while my game downloads at home, but I'm wondering if there is room for a total noob like myself, and if someone would be willing to show me the ropes? I will look you up in game when I get home, but just wanted to introduce myself here beforehand. Thanks!

    Me too Glenzig.

I used to love DAoC. I miss it, but it's not worth going back to .... Would be nice if this new game ends up doing well.

Brains and Brawn final Vanguard Newsletter

    Guild
Well Brains and Brawn is intent on sticking this out, we all have thing we want to finish or achieve before the shutdown. So I will be here to the end with a core group of the guild. We will welcome any who want to join us as others falter an shut down. All levels, all walks, come see the twilight together.

To members, well hang I there, come log in let’s get as many dungeon runs as we can. Log into and join our forums, let’s stay in touch. Members may try new games, new MMOs, maybe even start a splinter guild on those games. Always better to play with friends than strangers. Any who wish to run a splinter of Brains and Brawn in a new game come speak to me. Also maybe yo just want a diablo partner, or Civ player, well that is why the website will stay up, so we can enjoy other games together.

    The Game
Well we all knew it would happen someday, no MMO can last forever, and we all knew deep down inside that Vanguard would not be the longest running MMO. It was a great run, great times and greatest community ever. Do not rage quit and call it a waste, everyone knows you do very little in life for ever, and playing a game is one of them. So like all games it came to an end. I look back and have only good memories.

    SoE
With the sunset of Vanguard will also see the complete sunset of our relationship, one spanning back over 14hrs to beginning of 2000 when I started playing EverQuest. It has been a good run, from EQ to EQII to VG, even if for many years we as VG players were not treated as one of the family, more of the dirty little secret in the back corner. No Dev support for years and when it did come, at times I had to ask myself was that a good thing? Terrible choices, terrible wasted hours changing the best working non-buggy zones, while introducing lag that went months and months unfix or even acknowledged.

So I with me having zero interest in EQL or EQN, I see no reason to keep my account with SoE. No hard feelings, sunset of Vanguard was a business choice, as is my leaving a consumer choice. I just hope the Vanguard team lands softly, I really do.

    Personal Note
On a personal note I am very sad to see the game go, it is/was the last refuge for an old time gamer. I have for now so little to look forward to in MMOs.

So I have turned to Brad’s new game Pantheon: Rise of the fallen and I am a substantial backer. I encourage all Vanguard VETS to check it out on kickstarter.

Come join our forums, and keep in touch. If you want my private info PM me here.

Good bye everyone, though I am here for a while, you may not be. To those that will leave soon, those who have already left, and to those who are still here for the long haul.

    Farewell,

As of now Brains and Brawn will rise again in Pantheon!!!!

However, until that time I have now Pre-Ordered Elder Scrolls Online.

I played the beta and it was ok, kind of Skyrim with strangers and I decided there was no way it could replace Vanguard. However that choice has been made for me, Vanguard is shutting down. I will log in when I can, and be here until the end, but I am rather shocked at how fast the game emptied. Finding people to group with, has just become a heck of a chore.

So I now announce I am bringing a splinter of Brains and Brawn to Elder Scrolls Online. I will create the guild as soon as I can in game. I am commited to Pantheon, trust me my bank account will remind me of my sizable contribution to Brad's new endeavor.

So any who play on MAC or PC are welcome to come over to ESO for casual good times. I do not forsee a long term in game, tho it will for sure extend no longer than Pantheon's release. I have no ingterest in the PVP to be emperor crap, I do not expect my guildies to prop me up so. However I think there will be some fun to be had and some decent content to be seen. The crafting system is no Vanguard, but its much much better than old stack and click.

I also have a desire to try a modern MMO, and not go back to older games once again. This time I will look forward, with Pantheon my ultimate goal and until then, the interim games we can find to hold us over.

    See you all in Pantheon!!!

    Update:

With the Pantheon Kickstarter fiasco behind us, the Visionary Realms is forging ahead still with plans to complete the game. So those who are still looking for the repkacement for Vanguard, come on over and join us.

I am a Originators backer. Come be a part of the next best MMO ever made.

And with that, the lights will go out in the Brains and Brawn Guild Hall.

Take care all, it was a great run!
