Griffon Questline
Griffon Questline
Yep. It's time. I think we have most of what we need to set it up now.
These quests are really complicated. So this will take some time.
Scripting has been done by Jakkal, OncaLupe/Kayema and Georgefnix

Scripting has been done by Jakkal, OncaLupe/Kayema and Georgefnix
Quests:
- Griffons of a Feather Ch. 1 Initiation (quest_id: 7293 ) - Complete. Only available to GMs.
- Reporting for Duty (quest_id: 7481)- Complete
- Naziel's Request (quest_id: 7434 ) - The quest itself is complete. Though the steps to obtain the items are not entirely in working order. It is bare bones functional at this point.
- Scout Pellillo Cogswin (Southwatch) - Hail Script added.
- Captain Naziel Brockman (New Targonor)- Hail Script added.
- Ozymandius - Set hail script. We were going to set up the quest for the body parts, but realized we'd end up working on NN the whole time if we did that, so for now he's just there and you can hail him. We'll get to him once we do a proper pass of NN.
- Fon Cogswin - Not really part of the griffon quest, but I figured I'd set her up while we were in the cave area for the Fungal Abomination section.
- Griffon Yard Griffons - We decided to make a set of griffons in NT's Griffon yard so people can see what they look like before they commit to getting one. We couldn't get the colors exactly right but they should be close enough. We'll move them around later.

- Peaks Griffon Matriarch - Griffons of a Feather Ch. 1 Initiation - Complete. Will boot your toon and remove some feathers you have gathered.
- Torlaxis - Scripted for the encounter and to drop the saliva. Note: You do not need your main bag have empty spots anymore. And if for some reason all of your bag slots are full, it should offer the saliva as a loot drop for your toon.
- Pharoah Harakhan - Scripted just to drop the heart. Did not set up any encounters for it yet.
- Prince Mledun - Scripted to spawn Queen Amanita on death.
- Queen Amanita - Scripted to drop the Blood of the Fungus Queen.
- King Mnal - Scripted to turn aggro (spawns attackable version) when in proximity to the blood dropped from the queen. Scripted to drop the Stipe of King Mnal for anyone on the griffon quest.
- Raea the Phage - Scripted to drop the barrier and drop their time shard. The event itself is not scripted yet.

- Image Modifier 9000 - Griffons of a Feather Ch. 1 Initiation - Scripted to cast "Shrubbery"
- Vial of Powerful Efreeti Blood -Naziel's Request - Scripted for the Torlaxis or Hound of Rahz encounter. Only Torlaxis will update Naziel's Request.
- Fungus Queen Blood (item_id: 1402250) Grammar typo in the description. This has been fixed.
- Stipe of King Mnal - Scripted so that if you have Sphere of Wind Magic, it will turn into Magic Mushrooms
- Sphere of Wind Magic - Scripted so that if you have the Stipe of King Mnal, it will turn into Magic Mushrooms
- Magic Mushrooms - Scripted to spawn the Fungal Abomination at the proper location.
- Shrubbery - It turns you into a shrub. Adds player flag for the buff.
- Repeating Questline: We are considering making this questline repeatable. You won't be able to get more of unique items or whatnot. But we are thinking about allowing you get a different color griffon or get them all if you want. Making it repeatable does two things for the EMU: #1. It adds replay value to a quest that REQUIRES help from others. And when others aren't on the quest, it's very difficult to find people to help you. #2. In live, if you got the wrong colored griffon, which was surprisingly common, you'd have to petition to change the color. This seems unnecessary. And we don't see any reason to restrict people for the mount. You will have to earn each one through the questline though.
- Quest Required Items: In Live VG, many of the mobs dropped an item that you required for the various quests that are part of this questline. And in Live VG, those items had to go into the main bag. Players were forced to have empty spots open in their main bag or they would not get the item for the quest. In VGO we have set it up so that mob death will automatically put the item in your inventory if you are on the quest. It will not be restricted to the main bag. In addition, if all of your bags happen to be full, then the item will be placed, instead, on the loot table of the mob. We have put a chat message in game warning you to loot the mob to try to get your attention.
- The Chath Run: In Live VG, this was the most notorious part of the Griffon quest. It was so buggy than when we ran this part of the Get Your Griffons server event, we had a GM on hand to reset the chunk for us. In our exploration of VGO and how VG was set up, we discovered something remarkable - the Chath area is a whole ass dungeon. They blocked it off from players to only use the existing Chath run. Given it's notority, how buggy it was, and how many exploits were used just to get through this - we are very seriously considering changing this so it's a tried and true pure dungeon run. We might limit it to Griffon Questers (And their groupmates) only. But it will have a fun dungeon run instead of a gimmicky and buggy short event.
We are hoping by making these changes that you will not need to petition a GM to fix anything for you.

Today's Work:
Chunks
Chunks
- Old Targonor: Chunk Script Set so that killing any mob in the chunk will have a 1 in 20 chance to spawn a random OT knight.
- Old Targonor: Minor cleanup. Removed extra copies of the OT knights. So the only ones up and available will be the ones spawned by players killing in the chunk.
- Memories of the Old Blood - Complete. Quest script is set up. Mobs are set to drop the quest required loot. Mobs are not scripted for their original strats/abilities yet.
- Griffons of a Feather... Ch. 2 Investigation - In Progress. A quest specific bug is preventing us from finishing this one entirely. Note: Originally this quest wanted you to gather samples of Griffon Blood. HOWEVER, every interaction text we found from collections and our logs say "feather samples" instead of "Blood Samples". We have decided to create feather samples and use them instead of blood as it makes more sense with the quest and text information.
- 1st Talon Ramier O'Shear - Scripted with hail and dialogue. Looks like some of his dialogue might be missing.
- 7th Talon Researcher - Scripted with hail
- 2nd Talon Cassius Bladesong - Scripted with hail
- 5th Talon Guard - Scripted with hail
- 4th Talon Quartermaster - Scripted with hail
- Investigator Reginald Snipe - Scripted with hail
- UMBRAL SYNDICATE AGENT - Incomplete. This was originally set up as an attackable mob. We have changed him so that he is not attackable by normal means. We are still working on the scripting needed for the "Simon Says" version of this fight.
- Akande the Butcher - Quest: Memories of the Old Blood - Scripted to drop signet if player is on the quest. If player cannot get the signet in their inventory, it will be offered on the mob's loot table.
- Cennfar the Cannbal - Quest: Memories of the Old Blood - Scripted to drop signet if player is on the quest. If player cannot get the signet in their inventory, it will be offered on the mob's loot table.
- Naranda the Grotesque - Quest: Memories of the Old Blood - Scripted to drop signet if player is on the quest. If player cannot get the signet in their inventory, it will be offered on the mob's loot table.
- Raffen the Vain - Quest: Memories of the Old Blood - Scripted to drop signet if player is on the quest. If player cannot get the signet in their inventory, it will be offered on the mob's loot table.
- Tekar the Heartless - Quest: Memories of the Old Blood - Scripted to drop signet if player is on the quest. If player cannot get the signet in their inventory, it will be offered on the mob's loot table.
- Griffon: Quest: Griffons of a Feather... Ch. 2 Investigation - Scripted to give feather samples. Also scripted to give an ability depending on what chunk you are in when proceeding through the quest.
- Corpse: Quest: Griffons of a Feather... Ch. 2 Investigation - Scripted to update the quest for the second objective "Corpses searched". Because we have no information available as to what information the player found when searching the corpses, we had to add in our own flavortext.

Re: Griffon Questline
I didn't make a progress report for yesterday, as we spent most of the day working on "Griffons of a Feather... Ch. 2 Investigation", which is already written above. We haven't finished working on that quest, and we required a couple of server updates to get what we needed so we could set it up.
Rest assured, we are still working on it.

Re: Griffon Questline
Found my notes from Get Your Griffons, OT knights:
Cennfar the Cannibal
Message: Neither my thirst for blood nor my craving for flesh can match the hunger I have for your soul.
Spawns and patrols the NW dome, there are a couple safe spots so if you can, try to get a summoner there to make it easy. Cennfar is a pretty straightforward tank-n-spank. He'll put up a stance at 50% that needs to be pushed.
Raffen the Vain
Message: Your defeat is assured, for while I am flawless, you are not.
Paths to the "Safe Rock" near where Garzanog spawns. This is a tank-n-spank fight for the first 2 minutes. At 2 minutes he'll cast up a 100% riposte shield that reflects all incoming damage except magic. He also puts up Bulwark of Magic that lowers DPS recieved. At this point you'll be solely relying on your caster/s to take him out. The tank should continue to hit lightly to maintain aggro, but not enough so the healer can't keep up.
Tekar the Heartless
Message: Hope is a false promise, despair overcomes us all.
Paths to the "Safe Rock" near where Garzanog spawns. This is a ranged fight except for the tank. Tekar also puts up 2 AoE's so you'll want to be 15m away. This is a long, long fight so casters should be ready to regen mana, and archers should have a lot of arrows. Like Raffen he puts up a Bulwark of Magic that lowers incoming magical DPS. Properly done this fight can take up to 15 minutes.
Shorul the Wee
Message: Every scrap of power and piece of gold shall be mine, no matter how insignificant.
Shorul the Wee is a pretty good fight for those that know what they are doing. Near the "Safe Rock" as it's known near where Garzanog spawns is 2 little towers where 2 4 dot "mini-named" mobs spawn. Kill those when Shorul spawns. Shorul will path right to you after a minute or two. Have the tank take Shorul inside one of these! Shorul has an AOE mana drain and also a range debuff. Make sure the healers stay away from it! This fight is a lot like the Pharoah in that the casters will need to "joust" to stay out of the mana drain and the healer needs to be in LOS of the tank, but not in LOS from Shorul. Shorul also casts a huge debuff every 30 seconds or so. Let the tank build some aggro before the casters/ranged fighters go nuts!
Naranda the Grotesque
Message: There is nothing you can offer me, sae for the amusement of your demise.
Naranda is a healing mob with a huge mana drain at 50% health. She spawns and patrols outside the castle just to the north of the "Safe Rock". The key to this fight is counterspelling! 1 or preferably 2 counterspellers are required for this fight and will need at least 1000 counterspelling skill (I had 1450 just to be safe!). The nice thing is that Naranda doesn't hit very hard compared to the other mobs so the healers won't have too much work to do. Litany of Enjoining and Deny Life do not work on this mob, btw. As a counterspeller, I've had good luck staying exactly 25m away, just in range of my counterspelling ability and just outside the range of the mana drain. With the right combination of counterspelling and damage this fight can be really easy. Make sure you watch for repops of adds though - they spawn fast so you'll want to down them just before you attack Naranda or you'll lose your squishies to them. TIP: Have the tank call out when he sees Naranda's casting animation so the CS'ers can cast disenchant. Sometimes they cannot see it!
Akande the Butcher
Message: Tempt my wrath and I will grant it eagerly.
Spawns at intersection of roads to the NW. Akande is probably the hardest mob you'll ever face with a 6 man team. He is the definition of difficult. Don't expect to win this one unless you've got an experienced team around you. Akande spawns a minion dog that when popped will randomly select a member of your team and can one shot your squishies if you're tank isn't "Johnny on the Spot" to take aggro. A lot of teams prefer to use 2 tanks for this fight, one for Akande and another for the dog. The trick with Akande is to slow burn him till 40% or so, at which time he puts up "Pride of the Vein". Then you want to do as much damage as possible, for you've got about 30 seconds to kill him. After that he'll go crazy and kill even the best outfitted tanks in 1 or two fast hits. Though Akande does not move from his spawn point, he will summon and kill anyone involved in the fight - so no use running away when you think you're gonna die. You're gonna die! :p
--- My In Game notes:
/5 General OT Knight Notes: First make sure your main bag has enough empty spots for the rings. If your main bag doesn't have a spot, you won't get the update. It will automatically put the ring in your inventory after the kill. Also DO NOT RANGED ANY KNIGHT. Rangers need to be in Melee stance. Discs, do not use RaJin Flare. Ranging/throwing any knight will cause you to be stunned for 30 seconds. Ranged spells are fine.
/5 Tekar The Heartless - AOE/Dot that will eat meleers alive. Doesn't really hurt tanks too much. Helps to have disc in the group. Basic tank and spank otherwise. Has a curse that debuffs damage.
/5 Akande the Butcher - high DPS, BURN fight. Spawns dog named Zyrconix every 10%. Dog hits like a truck and FT's the person it's attacking. At 40% Akande puts up Wrath of the Butcher that will ramp up his damage significantly. Must kill quickly.
/5 Shorul - Tank needs to stand in the doorway of tower with Shorul inside. Mana healers need to stand outside, out of line of sight of Shorul. At 50% he puts up "Greed of the Wee" which will steal life, mana & end. This procs appears to be purple/white lightining. Casters must joust between lightning strikes.
/5 Narada the Slut - Bitch puts up a "Breath of Redemption" HOT on herself that will make her impossible to kill. Casters MUST MUST MUST counter that heal. At 50% she will drain mana from anyone without 25m.
/5 Raffen - Tank and Spank til 50%, puts up a reposte that is "Furious Light". It will kill meleers slowly. Meleers need to back off if taking too much damage. Puts up an Arcane Immunity randomly, so casters much watch for that so they don't waste burns.
/5 Cennfar - Need Lev, has a knockback. He has a stance and enchantment. At 50% he will ramp up his damage on the tank. Otherwise standard tank and spank.

Re: Griffon Questline
I had some notes myself, but they were minimal and relied on refreshing my memory at the time. Since were were doing this fairly often back then, that was enough for me. Now however it takes more to pry the info back out.
Akande- Booming voice. Timed mit buff, Pact of Blood. Zyrconix, 40%-Wrath of the Butcher
Cennfar- Growling voice. Damage ramp at 50%, need lev. Stance and Enchantment
Naranda- Whispering voice. Has large HoT. Energy Drain after 50%
Raffen- Warm voice. Repost after 50%, spell immune buff after 35%
Shorul- Hissing voice. LoS Energy drain after 50%. LoS curse debuff
Tekar- Cold voice. 10m AoE DoT, damage DoT LoS
So I'm remembering with the combined notes:
Akande - 'Pact of Blood' is a timed mitigation buff, goes up and down during the fight. Goal was to time the DPS so he reached 40% around the time buff drops, and hard burn through his 'Wrath of the Butcher' damage ramp buff. If both buffs are up at the same time, likely wipe.

Re: Griffon Questline
Making a note of this: We were able to find the parley for the Jingles part of the questline, the ID is 15843. Felanos Isora is an NPC with it attached to them. (So I can find it easier when I work on it)
Okay we have the parley set up on Felanos Isora. We have Investigator Reginald Snipe giving the buff. And the parley only shows up if you have the buff. I have to go do other things now in meatspace, then I'll set up the other NPCs that have the parley.
Today's Work:
Quests:
Note: These were the only NPCs recorded with the parley needed for the quest. There were more, but we do not have the tools we need to add the parley to other NPCs. Once the devs give us those tools, we'll add it to the others.

Today's Work:
Quests:
- Completely Crumbelievable (quest_id: 7531 ) - Quest script itself is complete. Still working on some of the components of it.
- One Eyed Jacked - This quest was missing entirely from our database. Had to rebuild it from scratch. I could not find any of the original quest text so I just had to make it up. Still being worked on.
- Investigator Reginald Snipe - Gives the player a buff for "Sensitive Information Gathering" which allows you to do the parleys in Leth Nurae for the papers required by Completely Crumbelieveable.
- Outrider Aendur - Set up Diplo Parley for the papers related to Completely Crumbelievable.
- Felanos Isora - Set up Diplo Parley for the papers related to Completely Crumbelievable.
- Rithain Ciledil - Set up Diplo Parley for the papers related to Completely Crumbelievable.
- Scribe Abagnale Upham - Moved her back to her original position within Mekalia. Set up hail script. Set up for One Eye Jacked.

Mobs:
- Suraya Dalvand - in VG Live, she was originally down at the bottom of Old Targonor. When SOE made OT a proper dungeon, they moved her up top and made her undead. We don't see a reason for this change and we want to encourage the dungeon crawl nature of VG by having people go down (And possibly work on OT at the same time). Created a new version of her, put her where she used to be in OT. Working on the script now with her random babble in the /say channel.

Re: Griffon Questline
Tonight's work is me playing with a bunch of magic numbers and fuck me if I manage to do this without bringing the whole server down.
*huff*
Alright, here's the work which I need to keep meticulous records of to keep up with everything. Much of this info comes from https://vgoemulator.net/archive/VGTact/ ... ering.html

Re: Griffon Questline
Today's Work. (More fun with Diplo!)
NPCs:
* Just as a note. I noticed that several NPCs do nothing but buff themselves with fuel for diplomacy cards. This is the reason that I felt like cards were missing from their deck. I experimented with Adept Eldamar and gave him cards that could make use of his fuel. And he's now much tougher to beat. He's not hard as far as the most difficult diplo parleys go, but he's not a pushover anymore either. I'll need to look into this for the other NPCs as well (And frankly, all NPCs in world.)
