Chunks & Missing Chunk Rifts

Post by Cyrcle » Tue Jan 06, 2015 1:08 pm

So I went in and compared all known .rift ids to the chunk files. We are unable to rift to 13 chunks. These are probably development chunks, but would be curious to see what is in them. The chunk files are as follows:

chunk_n21_n11.vgr
chunk_n21_n12.vgr
chunk_n21_n13.vgr
chunk_n21_n14.vgr
chunk_n21_n15.vgr
chunk_n21_n16.vgr
chunk_n22_11.vgr
chunk_n22_12.vgr
chunk_n22_13.vgr
chunk_n22_22.vgr
chunk_n22_n6.vgr
chunk_n24_n4.vgr
chunk_n24_n6.vgr

Edit Below:

The spreadsheet of all the rifts, with associated chunk files & fixes can be viewed here

Telon as we know it with all known .rift locations.
White is known rift locations, red are missing chunks.
Red outlined locations are not able to be reached without the .rift command at all.

I will try these, unless someone else gets to this first, and if they work I'll turn them on.

Some chunk files are just water and I don't think meant to be entered accept for the purpose of being rendered when in an adjacent chunk.

FYI, the "rule" I followed when deactivating chunks in our database, was any chunk in the in-game map that said "Unknown Zone" when I moused over. Pretty sure those blocks were closed (eg, you bounced off them when you tried to enter).

There are quite a few chunks that you can currently .rift to that are not even on the map, just as .rift 285, .rift 286, etc. They are zones/dungeons that the devs were working on. Environments look complete in most. Half the time they scrapped the zones due to taking to long to create quests, mobs, and itemization.

I'll add them in at a later point since it takes awhile to pull the information out of the map file.

Looks like mostly empty oceans (see image). We may get some more partially completed areas though, as looks like we were missing some.

Sounds good Xinux.

Also, main post updated.

Awesome Cyrcle, I always wanted a complete overview of the shape of the world and how it fits together.

Updated the missing chunk list, spreadsheet, and map. (Thanks John!)

We discovered that .rift 293, 294, 302, and 303 were in-fact different chunks (although using /loc in-game said they were all in -22, -4)

.rift 293 is located in -24, -6 (chunk_n24_n6.vgr)
.rift 294 is located in -24, -4 (chunk_n24_n4.vgr)
.rift 302 is located in -22, -6 (chunk_n22_n6.vgr)
.rift 303 is located in -22, -4 (chunk_n22_n4.vgr)

They are all HoSS (PoTA B), but 303 has NPCs.
