Based on who designed the game, it's not out of the question your Class could affect startup factions. In EQ, Druids were amiable to "healthy" animals, Shadow Knights and Necromancers were KoS to many of the factions that other Classes of the same race would not be KoS to.

From what I remember playing my characters, it was only animals. Which kind of makes sense for rangers and druids to have a kind of animal affinity. That's what I assume it was.

And then later on my druid I needed to skin those guys and I noticed that they were KOS to my rogue, but not KOS to my druid.

Thanks guys. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice this. I was afraid it would be lost to history without a way to log in and prove my observations.

I was sure class affected perception. The easiest examples I could think of were the relationships between rangers/druids and animals/faeries. The animals from Forest's Heart, being neutral to race (faction), reacted according to our class (perception/reputation). Even though we were both high elves (nature lovers), they perceived my ranger as a 'friend to animals', while her cleric wasn't.

I'm sure that ranger/druid/animals isn't the only example, but was just the most obvious. My Wood Elf rogue was untrustworthy/wary in a lot more areas than my Wood Elf shaman, leading me to believe that rogues also got a negative perception adjustment due to their reputation.

I'd bet the reason class influence wasn't as noticeable in Vanguard was due to the faction changes in GU5. The contrast between classes would have likely been more pronounced prior to the change because you'd have started off borderline KoS in more areas due to race, and any additional negative influence due to class might have been enough to push you to KoS, similar to EQ.

Thanks for the EQ reminder, Lokked. I had a Wood Elf ranger and druid, as well as an Erudite necro in EQ. I never considered that it could have been class because both my nature-based classes were elven. There was a definite difference in the way nature treated my ranger/druid in comparison to my necro (everything hated my necro), but back then I just assumed the racial differences were the reason.[/quote]

I must say, I have 11 level 55 characters of difference races in VG and have never seen any evidence to suggest this is true, the only classes I haven't spent much time on are the ones you are referring too, the Ranger and Druid. So it is possible that it was implemented and I just haven't seen it personally but you two are the only players in 7 years that I have heard of to bring this subject up! lol

I was also very active on the forums for 7 years, never have I seen or heard anything about this. I would really like to see some info on this subject, I genuinely am intrigued, being a fan of the game and not seeing it from beta to close is making my research and investigation senses tingle!

Do you have any links or info about this at all? none of my searches or forums sweeps are bringing anything up on this, i just get a lot of Diplo influences.

But they had lint!

Kilsin: I'll see if I have some screenshots. My druid was my main and Blackwolf had that warrior when we started playing. Our machines were next to each other so we could see the red/yellow names on each other's computers. That's when I really noticed it.

Those were the only classes (Druid and Ranger) I noticed that stuff on.

Interesting.

I played with my kid less than a year ago. We were level 10 and were in the wilderness east of Dahknarg. Kid got aggro from the animals, I didn't. Same race, same level, same quests, same everything, only thing that differed was our classes. I a druid, kid a shaman. I was sure kid was a bugged and did /shrug.

Sometimes the bugs really are features. Oh Vanguard.
