Sorry about delay. Was too enthralled at exploring Cave of Wonders.

Ran into an error when making a new character. I made my character name "Testing OneTwoThree" Received an error that I had invalid characters in last name. If I fix it to "Testing Onetwothree", when I click next nothing happens.

The name system only allows one capital letter for the first and last name. TestingOne TwoThree would have to be Testingone Twothree and so on.

Understandable, but the fact that I went back to change it to the correct form, should have let me click next (and done something) or come up with another error if there was one.

Humm i just tested it by adding random caps in first and last name. I got the error about my first name fixed it and clicked isle of dawn then it complained about my last name fixed it and clicked isle of dawn again and went right through with character create. All of that is handled client side the client won't even send the packet to the server unless the criteria are meet.

Yup. As long as the client launches, you can go through the character creation almost entirely without even needing to connect to a server.

Upon selecting the starter city, I hadn't entered the name. The starter city window disappears, I put in the incorrect characters and click next. I click the starter city, adjust my last name correctly. Then click next, nothing happens.

I understand John. Was just mentioning it. Also, New Telon says it is up but I am getting waiting for data. May be why I was reporting the error in the first place?

This is a problem. I have reported it to theFoof in my epic World Bugs thread. Eventually he'll get to it. I believe this is caused by spending too much time at character select, which none of us devs have ever done because we get straight into the game to test stuff. It only came up recently and needs to be looked into.

Account ID 0 being inserted into the characters tables means the data will not be returned.

I do not think this had anything to do with the VGODev Server test though. I took that server down, until I have more time to focus on it's issues. Thanks for the creates, Cyrcle. That's exactly what I needed.

Hey John, no problem. Again i know this is a very early alpha so I might be jumping the gun a bit, but when I see something off I would rather report it so it doesn't get overlooked even if it might be a long while before it gets looked at or fixed.

This behaviour, where the char can be created but not logging in, seems to be related to having more than one server active. Ie when my brother 'jimbo' has his server active we cld get in, but into mine. HE shut his down, and then cld get into mine.
Maybe be some shared ports issue with the login server?
