So, what else should we emulate?

I am curious what you guys think about the VGOEmulator Project (us) becoming the new Official Website for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (emulated) after sunset. It occurred to me that when SOE shuts the server down, they'll probably take their site and forums down too (correct me if I'm wrong). This got me to thinking, maybe emulating the entire Community is also something we should do - for the players.

I could set up vgoemulator.com (which currenrtly redirects to this .net site) as the Player Community side of VGOEmulator - with forums, media options, a blog, dev tracker, account management (handled better than we do here) and of course a resurrection of VGPlayers.com.

Meanwhile, our developers will maintain our position here at vgoemulator.net with our dev forums.

This is kind of an exciting idea; to have a full-fledged community for a defunct-but-struggling MMO


Vote and Discuss below if you can think of anything you do want to see us do (web-wise) or things SOE did you do NOT want us to do.

i am pretty sure i remember reading on the official forums that they WILL be shut down at sunset.
If i am wrong please correct me. the VGPlayers site i loved and was pretty bummed when that sut down so yeah i would love to see all of it but better ( like i would only expect from this high class group lol )

I cannot recall where I heard this information but I am also under the impression that the VG website will be shut down along with the game, so emulating everything to capture all of the valuable forums posts, lore stories, guilds, data, strats and general community spirit would be awesome in my opinion, I voted to grab it all, great idea!!

We'll need to grab that, specifically the update posts and dev info. I don't so much care about player whining posts, because we'll get enough of that here ourselves

I'll try and get a WinHTTP suck of "vangardthegame" this week.

Personally, I prefer darker themes for easier reading but the layout I like best would have to be similar to these two:

Nah it is ok, bright, but ok...lol, I like the light grey and black text, it makes it easier, if it was black on white (like it is typing this message) it would freak me out and I wouldn't read as much as I currently do lol

I like a minimalistic colour scheme and layout too but it's just easier on the eyes having a darker theme, for me anyway, it's more for when reading a lot of info at a time and especially at night. I have two monitors also and I have a dark themed desktop background, so the second monitor doesn't blind me from the side while reading on my main monitor

I thought the forums would remain in a read only state for two weeks after sunset and not completely shut down at sunset.
