Chat Bugs
uhhh, FIRST!
You might have mentioned this, but on the Channel List, I can indeed join any of those channels listed, and speak. But not multiple ones. I tried paladin and New Telon, and the UI seemed to get confused. Every time I click the check on or off for New Telon, it always says it's joining. If I am on any other channel, it says I am joining New Telon, but not really.
Either that, or I broke New Telon with my other tune - a raily little inkie I named "Tweaker Bob"

At any rate, leaving ALL channels does say so, unless that custom channel is the one. Probably because it's the custom one (huh?)
Lastly, note the Now autojoining channels: New
Maybe the UI doesn't like spaces?

Re: Chat Bugs
Oh one more, the Channel List itself has "qalia" but not thestra or kojan. I'll poke at the code now, see if it's simple to add. maybe try fixing new telon to be just "telon" or "newtelon"

It's based on what continent you're in. Also I haven't had any problems joining multiple channels...
I didn't do autojoin though so not sure if I can fix it or not. Will have to look.

Re: Chat Bugs
The space is messing something up, I'll get rid of it. I can join that channel and others at the same time still but things that were working before aren't now with that channel.

Re: Chat Bugs
I didn't do autojoin either. at least not intentionally. All I was doing was clicked New Telon, spoke a little, saw it, then clicked Paladin and it told me it was "3" which is what New Telon was previously. Assuming it bumped the channel. /3 now became "paladin" and I couldn't do any more with New Telon. If I unchecked paladin, it said all channels were gone (screen shot)

HAH! Nailed it.

Re: Chat Bugs
Not sure if this is helpful at all, if not, please disregard.
/toggling the chat channels won't save them unless you save the UI while it's changed. So if they are not saved, the next login will be wiped back to default if I remember correctly.
You can have up to 10 channels in VG chat that you /autojoin add channelname then /join channelname, the list updates and bumps as you add more and more up to 10, after 10 anything you add will either not autojoin or replace an already existing channel with the new one. It can be a bit buggy.
The order changes each time you add one, example:
/autojoin add telon (default assigned channel /1)
/autojoin add new telon (default assigned channel /2)
etc
but for some reason, I have noticed in the past, my channels being changed around when I add new ones, especially near the 10 cap, which will reassign new /# to them and change the order up.
There is a /command to see what channels you have attached to your character but the /command escapes me at the moment.
You can also edit this manually via the .ini file found in the bin folder, which is what I usually do:
I made a few up just to show the order, they would be numbered /1 through to /7 and have 3 spots left to autojoin channels before bad things start happening with your channel list lol
Anyway I hope that helps a bit if not, ignore me lol

Re: Chat Bugs
Thanks for the info, I was pretty sure that autojoin was client side I just didn't have time to test it before I added this stuff to the code. I've been busy lately and it's kind of day to day when I have time to work on stuff, so didn't want what I had just rotting on my pc for a week before adding details like that.
Re: Chat Bugs
Just to add to that information a bit.
Again, you guys are the pros at this and I really have no idea, I am just posting information that I do know and had experience with over the years, so if its helpful, awesome! if not, please disregard and be gentle
You can also use /# commands to change between chats faster than using the toggle option and many players will macro these, for example:
Typing in game chat:
/1 would be the default regionsay channel for whatever region you are currently in (Thestra, Qalia, Kojan - it automatically assigns the default region chat to the location/continent you are in, you could make this into a world chat to solve low population numbers and difficulty finding groups across 3 separate continent chats)
/2 would be default the auction channel for any region you are currently in
up to /10
/lfg was a new addition by SOE to make a world/server wide "looking for group" chat, typing /lfg automatically flags you as /lfg in the lfg tab
etc
An example of a text macro to be spammed in chat would be:
Bulk message text:
/reg(ionsay) <blue=>REVERENCE <white=>PUG raid starting in # mins, please meet at Tanvu rift for selection and further instructions (I think max macro limit is 250 letters or 10 command lines? but don't hold me to that)
*/reg will do but /regionsay is the full name for the slash command.
Lined message text:
/ra(idsay) <red=>VENT INFO
/ra(idsay) <gold=>Hostname: yourventhost.com
/ra(idsay) <gold=>Port: 6666
/ra(idsay) <gold=>Password: slacker
You can type /ra just like /reg and hit the spacebar and the space will automatically complete the /raid slash command in the macro unless something is similar and starts with the same 2 letters, then you would need to type /rai or the full version /raidsay etc

Re: Chat Bugs
Kilsin, thanks for the added info. I think a lot of that command stuff is native to the client, so it will still work that way - we just need to catch it on the server side and route things properly. One question I have for you, have you tried the bulk message with color on our server yet? If we're just passing text, the receiving clients should "just see it" and interpret it.
To Foof, did I just lie to Kilsin?

No, that's right. If you use /msg, /tell, /whisper or /tto it still just sends a message to the server saying you're trying to send a tell to a specific character. Mostly client side for the different commands.
