Ive run into an issue here which is probably inventory related.

I crafted the staff, went to the village, clicked it multiple times but nothing happend (I was definitely in the area).
I ended up killing a mob and the staff disappeared and the item I looted went in it's place. I can't be sure if it disappeared before I looted, but my impression is the loot somehow replaced the staff because I then killed another mob and that mobs loot replaced the previous mob's loot in my inventory.

Ive repeated crafting the staff multiple times but it never shows up in my inventory anymore. I also tried dropping the quest and restarting it but that doesn't change anything either. I cant even do the part where you show the staff to Matiachi again because .. the staff is not in my inventory?

I also have accesss to like 5 stacks of cleaner, but they only show up at the crafting table. At one point I bought a few but they didn't show up so I bought more. Sometimes things show up. Hard to track. The cleaner didn't show up till after I relogged. Doesn't work for the staff.

I know playing isnt the priority, but .. any way I can get past this quest? I need the reward to do the diplo quests >.<

playing with it some more, I am moving items around in my inventory and other items appear where the item I just moved was. Havent found the staff yet

EDIT: I have 4 staffs now

It appears to be slots 7 and 8 .. for what thats worth, might have been something hiding in slot 6 too.

And I finally got the staff to work, so ... hopefully the rest of this info is helpful

its weird that I couldnt show the staff to Mitachi because apparently the staff(s) were in my inventory just not visible. weird.

oh 1 other thing I did was unequip some stuff from .. crafting set I think, because I had the no-pegasus bug .. not sure if that is related or what fixed it, but .. its something I did between it not working and it working.

Ufff...tbh I do not understand the issue you have. Looks like some quest bug. If you are still facing this trouble, pls, type /bug in the game chat window and shortly describe it for our devs.

I don't think that's a quest bug. That sounds like your inventory got borked somehow. I'd make a /bug report about it and reference this post so the devs can look into it. That's not something I can work on.

I got it to work somehow. After getting through it I don't think it's related to the quest. Possibly something to do with clicking items in inventory, but .. idk enough about that kinda stuff to know if that is what caused it. Also the cleaner items disappeared before that, so I think there was something wrong before I even got to the quest. That is just when I first realized it.

This might have started when I got the Alchemical Leather Utility Pouch and swapped out all of the items. I made a bug report about that as well in game. I was unable to sell the old bag because the bag was not empty according to the game, but there was nothing my bag. After I fixed the issue above, I moved items around in my utility bag and that seems to have cleared up the issue with the old crafting bag too and I was able to sell it. I don't think this has to do with the item, just something happens either when looting or moving items in bags, or possibly when I tried to replace the first crafting bag with the Alchemical bag by dragging it on top of the old bag in the UI? Im just guessing at this point obviously so ... just observations I guess.

No, I don't think it's the bag. I think what's happening is related to how the inventory is working (Not really polished) and how the crafting session takes items from your inventory and moves them to the crafting table. It sounds like something during that move to the crafting table and the move back to the inventory is messing things up.

I've had all the same problems. I've also had issues with gear I unequip from appearance slots disappearing from my inventory. I think I /bug the problem(s) or talked to an online Dev, but it's been awhile so I'm not 100% sure.
