IOD Crafting Quest Progress Thread
IOD Crafting Quest Progress Thread
OOOOH SHIT. Guess what I'm doing?
Before I begin, let me note that crafting is still in an early, but not entirely complete stage. (Bold is Xinux's replies)
Known Issues:
Fixed
General Quests:
Life of a Crafter - Complete. I've currently got this turned off for the public as I continue to work on the entire line. (Still feeling my way through how to set all the crafting stuff up).
The Artisan - Complete
Artificer Branch: (All quests listed in this section are complete)
The Path of the Artificer
Artificer Training: Crafting Tools
Artificer Training: Using Utilities
Artificer Training: The Crafting Process YOU ACTUALLY GET TO CRAFT HERE. OMG SO AWESOME!
Artificer Training: Complications and Quality
Artificer Training: Proper Attire
Artificer Training: Work Orders PLEASE NOTE: This is not working entirely as it should be. We don't have the functionality currently to have the WO Guy (Yoshin) give you "Introductory Work Order" and nothing else. We also don't have a way for it to know you've completed a work order. So for now I have simply added the recipe to the quest. Just go to the Artificer Finishing Station and do the recipe "Cart Wheel". This will complete the quest for you. You don't go to Yoshin at all currently. I have also put a note about this on the quest itself warning players (So don't bug report it). It's either set it up like this or don't set it up at all. And I'd like to keep going with this.
Also I added the Assorted Tools as a quest reward. You're supposed to get that when you turn in the work order.
Artificer Training: Assembly: PLEASE NOTE: We do not currently have Assembly Recipes in yet. In order to proceed with this quest, please click the Assorted Tools that you got as a quest reward from the prior quest (Artificer Training: Work Orders). You must have the worn saw for this to work.
Artificer specific training is complete.

The Path of the Outfitter

Outfitter Training: Using Utilities
Outfitter Training: The Crafting Process
Outfitter Training: Complications and Quality
Outfitter Training: Work Orders: PLEASE NOTE: This is not working entirely as it should be. We don't have the functionality currently to have the WO Guy (Yoshin) give you "Introductory Work Order" and nothing else. We also don't have a way for it to know you've completed a work order. So for now I have simply added the recipe to the quest. Just go to the Outfitter Finishing Station and do the recipe "Small Blanket". This will complete the quest for you. You don't go to Yoshin at all currently. I have also put a note about this on the quest itself warning players (So don't bug report it). It's either set it up like this or don't set it up at all. Outfitter specific training is complete.
Note for the Work ORder quest, after getting the Introductory work order, it says this in chat: (based on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVTsLrlUz5A )
Yellow text:
[You have accepted a work order and have been given a recipe. Go to the finishing station and Begin Crafting. When you finish making the item, return to the taskmaster. Note that if a work order requires more than one item, you don't need to return with all of them.]
When turning the WO in:
(Yellow text)
[Work orders are the primary means for a crafter to advance. Work orders provide experience and rewards such as money and new equipment. Refining taskmasters work exactly the same as finishing taskmasters, but give jobs to raise your refining skills. There are also special work orders and crafting quests available.]
After gaining your crafting class, Jinra's text simply says, "Tell me more of crafting."
Before picking crafting quest, Jinra's Text says:
"Can you tell me more about crafting?"
"I want to skip the tutorial. I know what I am doing!"
While someone is on the tutorial quests, Jinra's text says: "I want to restart the tutorial."
Before I begin, let me note that crafting is still in an early, but not entirely complete stage. (Bold is Xinux's replies)
Known Issues:
Fixed
- There are complications on the first couple of crafting sessions. - Next update there will be a flag to allow complication
- Trying to clear a complication can sometimes spawn a complication - Fixed and live on NT
- Some of the animations are wrong. - I parsed what i could rest will have to be done manually
- Work Orders are not organized into anything coherent right now (Seeing some for Tursh in IOD).
- Work Orders are in the wrong order. - Next update they will be sorted by level
- If you try to combine your utilities (charged items), it turns them into a stack. You don't want that. And it does it. - Fixed as of next server update
- Some tools turn red after you equip them. - Fixed as of next server update
- Crafting quests and items created for crafting quests do not currently give XP. - Fixed as of next server update
- You can't train any new recipes from the all in one trainer. It does work if you go to your specific crafting class trainer. (Which is not in IOD). - Fixed as of next server update
- I can't seem to add any additional utilities to the crafting table (Only checked this on Artificer so far). You should be able to put anything you want on the table, even if the recipe doesn't require it. These are used to clear complications. I tried adding "Cleaner" to Tentrees Tools for Artificer, but it wanted to add that as a secondary component, which it isn't. - Fixed as of next server update
- Quests that require the crafted item be a certain grade: I don't see how to enforce this. Usually if you do a quality less than required, the item would become "Destroyed materials" and couldn't be used for the quest at all. I'm not seeing an option for this anywhere. - Fixed as of next server update
- On my outfitter, testing Artisan's Saga: Emergency Supplies" (7520), if you go to the crafting station, bring up the crafting window, click the recipe, close the window, then bring up the crafting station window again, the recipe is gone. Specifically Tentrees Tools and Tentrees Armor. - Fixed as of next server update
- I got a crafting complication right when I was done (Should never get a complication then). It even says in my log that crafting has ended when the complication pops. Now I have the complication window stuck open. Visual aid -> http://jakkal.com/vanguard/VGO/Crafting ... nStuck.jpg - Fixed as of next server update
- Quests aren't awarding faction. - Fixed
- Sometimes crafting sessions think you don't have certain utilities on your bar when you do. I believe this is related to the above error as it seems to happen in tandem. - Fixed
- 3/27/18 - If you spam click items to go on the crafting table during setup, you might get an error "handleitemmovetocombatinv", and it will show some or all slots filled when nothing is in it. - Fixed
- Crafting table setup doesn't automatically put the needed stuff on your table. - Will be awhile before this happens
- Assembly Recipes are not in.
- I just had a session that ended (As in completed) before I got to the final step. Something weird was going on there. Not sure if one of the other designers was loading something and messed it up.
- Crafting Utilities do not go directly into the crafting bag if one is equipped.
- I just got the complication "Rotten Material" and I believe it's reducing my quality (as it should). But it says it has a Quality Bonus, not a Quality Penalty).
- I just got the issue again where it looks like no progress is being made. It's on my sorc, JakkSorcerer, at 12:50am ET. Doing the "Outfitting" Quest. I have the complication "Potential Disaster" up. And I was on the Pattern step. And while I was writing this, it progressed. So it could be lag on my end.
- Right now, I don't think we can let people change crafting professions. I mean, I guess we could, but when doing so it should automatically set your level to 1 and remove all recipes you've learned. I think this is something that needs to happen in the server code.
- Some artificer recipes are showing on both finishing and refining stations. (I have not tested it with blacksmith or outfitter yet).
- The animations are wrong. Some are hilariously wrong (Using the complication animation for the regular action). I'll fix this when I'm done adding in the quests.
- Complications that require tools are allowing me to use the actions to remove the complication without having those tools. At all. I have no repair tools or chisels and it's letting me clear the complication. (Examples: Rotten Material, Fractured Product)
- I believe that the progress amount is too varied. There's too much on Excellent, there's way, way, way too little for Poor and Moderate. You can literally fail a crafting session without any complications up because of too many 'poor' or 'moderate' rolls. This should not be. Poor should only show up if your skills are super low, or if you get a complication. Moderate needs to be over 10% at the very least. Many times I've needed more than 20 charges of the utility to complete the utility section. Since the stacks were originally 20, I can tell you that it shouldn't take anywhere near that much to complete.
- The Second and Third complications are showing the exact same tooltip as the first complication if more than one are present.
- Action points should never go into the negative. They should stop at 0 and stay at zero if you run out. This is important for the last step because if you go into the negative because of complications taking too many points, you can't finish the final step which only requires 0 action points. If a complication would cause you to go into the negative, it would give you the "Insufficient Action Points" message and not let you use it.
- First complications are not dropping off after their duration is up. For example, I just went through 8 actions on a 5 duration complication (Mangled Tool). I had another complication up (Chipped Material) that dropped after 5 actions. Another session, Chipped Material was the first and did not drop, and the second complication (Muscle Pain) would not drop off either. Third session: Minor Splintering dropped off as intended and was the first (I did not get any other complications.

Tonight's Work: (Other than like, all of the quests above).
Learning Recipes: Complete. PLEASE NOTE: There's no recipes that can be learned right now.
Harvesting Training: Complete.
Item Enhancement: Complete. I'm not entirely sure when this quest is supposed to be available. So I just put it behind the "Learning recipes" quest for all the classes.
Tier Quests: Complete. I'm not entirely sure when this quest is supposed to be available. So I just put it behind the "Learning recipes" quest for all the classes. I know this isn't the right place for it, but it's just where I'm sticking it for now until I can get through more of the quests.
Okay, now to the real crafting questline. I'm putting this in the order that I think they're done in. I'm not entirely sure. And some of the wikis don't have the info. IF anyone knows better, please let me know.
All of the following quests have been tested on an Artificer only. I will test with the others later, but for now I'd just like to get these quests up.
Artisan's Saga: Yoshin's Support - Complete
Artisan's Saga: Emergency Supplies - Complete
Artisan's Saga: Journey to Tentrees - Complete
Artisan's Saga: Fortify the Perimeter - Complete, but with issues. #1. You're supposed to create the crafted reinforcement to grade B. There's no check for this. I was able to complete it at grade D. #2. We have a current issue with quests that have quest items with an objective to obtain, but then get used up. I've had to halfass a fix around this (So that you get a quest update for having those items even after using up those items). The devs are working on a fix to this issue currently, I'll just have to update this script when they're done.

Re: IOD Crafting Quest Progress Thread
Today's work:
Artisan's Saga: Sun Village Armor: Complete. PLEASE NOTE: This quest has an Assembly component. Once again, we do not have Assembly recipes working. You'll need to click on the lining that Hadin gives you in order to complete the quest.
Artisan's Saga: Craftsman's Assault - Complete. Mostly. The follower (Veteran) is in, but it's optional. You have to specifically tell Kamishi that you want her to follow you. Also it does nothing. Literally, all it does right now is follow you. It can't attack. We might look into making it an actual minion or getting rid of them altogether. No one liked them.
Artisan's Saga: Salvaging Memories: Complete
Artisan's Saga: Earth Den Assistance: Complete. I think. The server crashed before I could make sure you could turn in.
(As a side note, I'm very seriously thinking about moving the forges outside of the main crafting house, and putting in proper trainers upstairs. It really makes no sense to have the forges on the second floor interior of a house, but they're also so big that it makes targeting the trainer difficult.

Re: IOD Crafting Quest Progress Thread
Okay, thanks. That's not what I needed for this particular quest titled "Tier Quests", but I found what I needed for it on a Let's Play Video. That might still come in handy when we set up the actual Tier Quests. The one on IOD just explains them to you.

Re: IOD Crafting Quest Progress Thread
Tonight's work: We did a lot of testing and a lot of fixes. Xinux showed me how to set up some stuff that needed to be done. So for the past several days, I didn't get to set up any new quests - but I did get some necessary work done behind the scenes to make sure everything works as well as it can in present condition.
_____ Training: Work Orders - We now have it set up so you can get the introductory work order. Problem is that there was no way to tell when this particular WO was done the way we have it set up. So we changed the objective so that you complete the quest when Yoshin gives you the note of accomplishment (whatever we called it).
Artisan's Saga: Prelude to Hope - Complete. Scripted the reward ring to give the proper resources when used.

Re: IOD Crafting Quest Progress Thread
Today's work:
Artisan's Saga: Warp the Magic - Complete.
Artisan's Saga: Sanho's Missive - Complete
Artisan's Saga: Ulvari Investigation - Complete. For the record, this quest only had three crafting mat rewards: Copper ore, Mangled Hide, and Weakened Timber. I added Jute Bale and Basalt Slab just to be fair to tailors and minos.
Artisan's Saga: Suspicious Conclusions: Complete. Scripted the reward item as well (Potion of Brilliance)
Artisan's Saga: Impromptu Fieldwork: Complete
Artisan's Saga: Sanho's Report: Complete
Artisan's Saga: Ulvari Counter: Complete
Artisan's Saga: Ulvari Purge: Complete
Artisan's Saga: Introducing Ki: Complete
Note to self: XP has dropped off significantly and my outfitter is now a couple of levels below the quest levels. This will need adjusting which I'll look at when I'm done setting up all the crafting quests.
Okay, I just realized that the order we have these in our database is not the same order that was used in Live. I was wondering why Sanho's quests weren't really making sense. For my own records, here's the proper order:
Artisan's Saga: Impromptu Fieldwork
Artisan's Saga: Suspicious Conclusions
Artisan's Saga: Ulvari Investigation
Artisan's Saga: Sanho's Report
Artisan's Saga: Ulvari Counter

Mental note: Check faction.

Re: IOD Crafting Quest Progress Thread
Just wondering, when do you think we will get to start seeing this implemented live?
