Tanvu/Shang Village QA
Tanvu/Shang Village QA
Starting to get a lot of bug reports coming out of Tanvu, so you know what that means!
QA TIME!
Just looking at Shang Village, I can tell that it needs cleanup. I might not get to that part here but I want to make sure all the quests work as intended. So let's do this.
Soldier Morale: Do they seriously throw you into Shang village and have you convince soldiers to burn down a village you, as a player, know nothing about? Fucking brutal.
Lead by Example: Had to redo a lot of the scripts on this. So when you kill a villager, a message pops up. When you kill the last one, a different message pops up. I hate popup messages in this regard because it fights with the quest update message. So I added a chat version of it as well.
Shang Treasure: Updated the object script.
You need Training - Light Fighter: Set up the Light Fighter Weapons.
Return to Master Rahlsu Light Fighter - This looks like someone created these from scratch as I can't find any evidence that these were in Live. But it's a good idea to have them. I will need to rewrite the dialogue though, it seems lacking.
I didn't have time to get to the other classes for this, or test the weapons for the other classes for the "You need training" quest. I'll try to get to that tomorrow.

Re: Tanvu/Shang Village QA
Today's work:
I redid the hailing scripts of all the trainers on Shang Island. I realized their original text was missing.
I have set up the "You Need Training" quests for all the archetypes, and the "Return to Master Rahlsu" quests as well. I set up all the weapons to be class specific.
Redid the text on the "Return to Master Rahlsu" quest.
Report to Officer Yu: Complete
The Monks of Shang Village: Complete, did some backend editing.
Master Fhungusu: Complete
Redemption: Complete. Fixed a poi issue.
Reminder to self: Go over all the spawnscripts in this area.

Today's work:
Pathetic Soldiers: Complete. Had to redo this one quite a bit. Also made it so that the spawning imperial soldier actually looks like the clickable one.

Re: Tanvu/Shang Village QA
Today's Work:
A New Master x4 (Training quest for all four archetypes). Tested on the rogue. Haven't tested the other classes yet.
Return to Kanjaro x4 (All archetypes). Looks like this was an addon that wasn't consistent. Changed the text, the level, the XP and the coin reward.
Side note: It looks like "A New Master" gave weapons as a quest reward. This makes no sense on two levels. #1. You've already gotten weapons in the Shang Village quest. You shouldn't get them again until level 6. #2. In the quest right after "A New Master", Kanjaro comments about how you have no weapons.
It looks like VG Live might have removed the weapons but didn't change the quest text that tells you that you get a weapon from the trainer.
At some point I need to fix this, but I'm leaving it alone for now. I need to make sure all the quests work before I can really start looking at rewards. I feel like i'll need to redo how rewards are given out for the entire Tanvu adventuring timeline like I did for Dahknarg.
I had to stop at: A Humble New Beginning which has 3 quests that are part of it. I managed to get through the quest scripts of: Turtle Soup, Rival Fishermen and Fish for Crabs. I haven't checked the questgiver script, or the scripts related to the quest (Like the mobs that drop the items). I will get to that in the morning, for now I need to crash.

Re: Tanvu/Shang Village QA
Today's Work: Rival Fisherman: There's two ways to get the fish for this quest. You can either do "Fish for Crabs" which rewards you with the needed items. Or you can jump into the water and click on the clickable fish there (not the ones labeled "Fish" which are for fishing and too numerous for me to simply have them despawn). The problem with the clickable fish: The sparklies seem to show up where the fish spawn but don't move with the fish. We think this has something to do with underwater mobs as land mobs don't behave this way. The devs are looking into this now, this is not something I can do anything about currently.
Turtle Soup: Complete
Crabs for Fish: Complete
A Lost Momento: Complete
Meat for Tanvu: Complete
One Hand Clapping: Complete. This one was complex and I don't think it was set up properly the first time around. Now you can finish this in one of two ways: You can either kill the dracoflies yourself, which might take some time. Or you can go to the alchemist, get some poison and set the poison up around the nullifier things. I think the nullifiers were supposed to kill anything around them, but we don't have a way of doing that right now. I might see if I can get some effects to happen at least. This quest also has a bracer reward that needs to be looked into, but I won't be doing that on this pass.

Today's Work:
Finding Oki - So, at least 3 different designers have tried to tackle this one. Some people said that when you click the corpse it's supposed to auto complete the Finding Oki quest and offer Avening Oki. But we had turn-in dialog recorded for Finding Oki, which is not what happens when you have an auto-complete quest. So what I've done is thus: When you click the corpse, it completes Finding Oki, and lets you turn in like any other quest. Then it immediately pops up the next quest, Avenging Oki. BUT if for some reason you accidentally click off the offer, and don't accept Avenging Oki, you can get it again by clicking the corpse again. I like to put in these kinds of failsafes in game as I recall many times when they didn't work in live and you had to petition a GM to get a quest.
Avenging Oki - Complete
Oki's Jewels - Complete
Lost Fishing Supplies - Complete. I moved some of the Pillagers down the hill and towards the crates. I removed some of the crates. And I increased the needed amount of crates from 2 to 4. It was far too easy the way it was for a level 4 quest (for reference's sake, there's a quest just like this in Dahknarg that's level 2 that's so much more difficult than this one at level 4). The quest NPC also calls me "Sir" during turnin. My toon is female. This is awkward. The Devs said they might be able to make a thing so she says sir/ma'am based on your toon's gender, but we don't have it available currently.

Re: Tanvu/Shang Village QA
Today's work (Not much done, sorry)
Manifestations of Jin - SHould work. The only thing I don't like about this quest is that one of the manifestations doesn't despawn cuz it's needed for other quests. Just seems weird and out of place. Also the original quest objective had the hollow crystal as an item obtain objective. This seems messed up because as you do the quest, the hollow crystal becomes a charged one, thus you no longer have the hollow one. I set it up so both crystals ding this complete. Anyway, it's done.
A Jin Divided - Complete. Text restored

Re: Tanvu/Shang Village QA
Training is Wisdom - Light Fighter Version - I really hate the way they do items in Tanvu, on IOD and Tursh, you get the easy to follow "TitleHere's Whatever". If you're a rogue, they're all named "Rake", or a BM is "Defiler". But in Tanvu they're named after the person that gives them to you. That makes my job more difficult trying to figure out what's what. Anyway, this one was set up, only the Ranger offhand was missing. Copied the one from IOD and renamed it. Fixed the rewards to be class specific.
As a side note, I might go back through the quests and streamline all the items. Instead of giving it the same boring name such as "Scout's" or "Minstrel's", I might make them thematically appropriate, like "Samurai" or "Byakkotai". Just something fitting for an Asian themed area.
Training is Wisdom - Caster: Fixed the rewards to be class specific. Added missing druid reward.
Training is Wisdom - Tank: Fixed the rewards to be class specific. None were missing.
Training is Wisdom - Healer: Cleric and Shaman stuff were missing. Added missing rewards. Fixed the others to be class specific.
NOTE FOR THE TRAINING QUESTS ABOVE: I did not test these on every class. If anyone runs into a problem with the rewards, please tell me what the problem is and what class your character is.
Test of Agility: Complete. And wow, Akomi is a bitch. Also, need to script the reward (Akomi's potion of agility). I don't have time to do that tonight, I'll get to it next time I work in Tanvu.
