Hi,
When you have your crafting gear (or others), if you use a spell to kill a mob, your adventure gear appear only at the spell impact (end of the casting bar).
I think it should appear directly when you click on your spell.

It should appear when you go in to combat. when you are casting you are not in combat yet. Correct me if i'm wrong tho.
