Let's Talk Mekalia
Re: Let's Talk Mekalia
I remember some of this area, the video started in the 2nd section. I went back there a couple of days ago for nostalgia, when wondering around with Aevah. I can go back and recall some of these if you want. Is there anyway to get rid of all those baby dragons at the entrance of the mayor's building there, it causes a lot of lag? Think those were intended to be part of the terrible update which overthrew Mekalia. There's probably 20 of them and wing sounds are real laggy too.
The first section, was back in the crack of the wall, there are sewer type grates. Lvl 1 would kill slimes to get a couple of nicknacks from them (i.e. probably to study them to make the suction gun you see in the video). There were two quests back there, one was from the security (i.e. we just want to get rid of them) and the other was the research/scientist section (i.e. let's make a gizmo to study it). There were a couple of other gnomes, probably one research assistant and two guards.
The 2nd section had the usual suspects quest npcs, trainers and merchants, who sent you after the lizards and spiders. Third section, you attack the larger slimes then use the suction gun. They would split into 3 and you would have about 15 seconds to suck the little ones up. The guy who gave that quest was up on the rock ramp, on the left as you worked your way out. Additionally you had to kill 5 mobs from around the water. There were some mobs between you and the building. Probably kill 5 and turn those kills in on the way to or inside the building. In building, you met the mayor. There were trainers and merchants, in the building.
After the mayor's building, you would move into the town area. There were about 4 quests there, one to catch some rats, iirc. Next it was on to the library/classroom building, in the lower level you learned Harvesting. I'm guessing, there's still a quest list in the data files for Mekalia, just disabled.
Let me know if you need anything.

Re: Let's Talk Mekalia
I removed a bunch of the dragons so it shouldn't be as bad now.
I'm guessing, there's still a quest list in the data files for Mekalia, just disabled.
The problem is all the data we have on VG Live came from volunteer data collectors. They ran around doing stuff with a program running in the background capturing the packets going back and forth from client to server. Mekalia was closed before data collection started, so we have zero recorded info from there. We don't have any of the original VG's server info or Database, it's all being rebuilt from scratch, and the client doesn't store it.
Rebuilding Mekalia will require either finding the info online from sites that haven't closed down yet, videos people have posted, or from memory of those that played through it. So that's what we do need for this, every bit of info you can remember or find.

Re: Let's Talk Mekalia
Incidentally, if we can't find the information for Mekalia's old quests, I intend to write something up from scratch to make it work. So we will be restoring Mekalia, it just might not be what people remember. If we do have to write it from scratch, it'll be one of the last things we do, as restoration of existing data has priority.

Re: Let's Talk Mekalia
Here's my first draft, of the first section. Let me know if this is close to what your looking for or you want something different.
Menagerie of Telon
1. Starter area Sewer Grates. 45344, 70550, 5183 [Iirc, constant themes are 'fighting verses research', 'my superior sent me here', 'loyalty to the king' and 'underground verses going topside.] At least 12 yellow/neutral Khelium Slimlings are in the area. At least 4 quests, Deputy, kill quest and Report to Constable. Thirdly, Researcher needs body parts and Sealing/Treating the Sewer Grates (I believe he treats the grate with some repellent, instead of blasting it shut). At least 2 guards and maybe another researcher.
1a. Deputy Constable standing next the the broken crates, waves you over. Constable (next section) sent him here to stop the Khelium Slimelings. Your the newest member of the Loyalists and we need your help. Kill # quest and talk to the Research Assistant.
1b. Research Assistant (46713, 70299, 5187) with a few gadgets around him looking busy. Says, killing them won't stop them, but he thinks he can make something to stop them from coming through the grates. 'Bring me their (body part) so I can study it' quest.
1c. Research Assistant has discovered a way to keep the Slimlings out of the sewers. Interact object, used on all 7 sewer grates.
1d. Deputy Constable needs you to report to the Constable at the Statue of King. 36732, 67203, 4737
