There's a video walkthrough that was made by a player for setting up the client. It's not 'official', but can make it easier to get set up.

As for helping, test stuff! Use '/bug' in game if you find something that isn't working correctly.
Most content is done via a web backend, or coded in Lua. C++ is for the server stuff.

The Kojan starting area beginning in Shang Village and the questline through Tanvu should all be working. Test and bug.
