Due to some errors in database maintenance today (don't ask), the New Telon character database took extensive damage and could not be repaired. This was also a bad time to learn the automatic backup script stopped working in Sep! I thought about restoring the 900 or so characters from then, but was reminded by the team that there are recent code changes that really did warrant a data wipe anyway - like all the new items that are coming today, as well as skills/attributes testing.

So starting today, you'll need to re-create your toons on New Telon. This last run was almost 7 mos, so that's not bad for pre-alpha. We'll likely be wiping data more often in 2016 as more systems come online, but my hope is to not do it more than twice a year until release. For now, you get some squeaky clean new toons to play with, and some new items to shop for.

Let us know if you see anything weird with Items or during Character Re-creation.

Just to let everyone know, guilds were wiped too. So if you started a guild, it went with the characters.

Were the accounts at vgoemulator.net affected? When I try to log on there, I get account "shargash" does not exist. When I try to create a new account, it just eats my password and comes back to the account creation page.

I can log into the game fine.

No, the login accounts were not touched. I can still log into the Account Management portal fine. I see 5 accounts for you, all the same pwd. Maybe clear browser cache?

I cleared the cash and tried 4 different browsers (including my phone), and I get the same result. "Account does not exist" seems like a specific reply from the server, as opposed to some kind of connection or browser error. I'm not sure what to try next. Note that I haven't been on account management in probably something over a month.

I will have to reset your password to try it myself. I'll coordinate with you offline (and it'll be later in the day)

Edit: Just checked the code real quick, the "Account does not exist" is an errant response. It was a catch-all for not getting any results back, so it "seemed" right but in fact the account does exist, the password is just invalid - or does not match what I have on file.

I tried a different password, and I got in. I've spent more than enough time in IT to know not to believe error message texts, but what I saw through me off the track nevertheless. I was SURE I remembered the password...

Sorry about that. Much ado about nothing.
