Apparently, I set y'all up on as Wiki Authors long ago. All you have to do is click Wiki up there, and log in using your VGOEmulator.net forum credentials, and you can wiki-out.

Sweet. Do you want us to go ahead and start setting up NPC/quest info on there?

Oh also, I was thinking maybe changing Raiding to Raiding/Other Adv Content (or something like that) because we don't really have a place for things like Lorestones or the Mount Quests (Shadowhound, Unicorn, Griffon) that are global quests.

Alternatively we could put the quests in the Continent where they start (Unicorn and Griffon in Thestra, Shadowhound in Kojan).

No one likes Lorestones.

This is a for sure...

The wiki is yours to do whatever you want. Let me ask this though before you start; Should we put official Game knowledge/data in the VGOPlayer.com wiki, vs the VGOEmulator.net (dev) wiki? I hadn't thought of that until just now.

Also the reason I am (hinting) to build our own Wiki is that I fear all the fansites will not stick around to support >>us<< so when they go down, like some have, they take all that info with them. We (Kilsin and I that I know of) have archived a few websites, but I have yet to ask him for his files and that is a massive undertaking turning those grabbed pages back into usable information. I guess what I'm saying here is, why re-type it all when we have it captured?

Lastly, since some of the sites we're "borrowing" data from ARE wiki's, can you users simply edit >their< wiki document, grab the markup, and paste it into ours and call it done? Or will someone sue us for stealing their data? haha.. just some thoughts before I've even sipped my first cup of coffee.

I want to say we should have a separate Dev Wiki and a Player Wiki. I can just imagine that the Dev Wiki has a lot of information that normal players or even server admins won't care about. (especially if code snippets are posted).

And I think just to be safe, no one should directly copy/paste stuff into our official wiki. I think it's okay to reference it, but in our official and publicly available wiki we should just write it all ourselves.

I totally agree with you on the point of fan sites though. I had this exact same conversation with one of my guildies, Karii, when he started the Telon Project. I told him my biggest gripe was people posting fan sites and taking them down instead of handing over the information.

We could also contact the site owners of the still existing sites and ask them if it's okay to copy it. (With credit).

Right now I'm trying to grab all the quest information we can before it does go poof. Just because it's still up now doesn't mean it'll be up in a couple of years when we (hopefully) have a working game.

I'd really like to hear from the other Content Designers, if they're still around

Personally, i would like something like that (http://wiki.esoui.com/Main_Page) as well for players or dev

It's my best approach and point of view for the wiki/lua content

A c++ functions reference should be really usefull and a plus :p

VGOplayers has lists for Items/Quests/Beastiary that would be great for players. Not excited about writing two wikis for devs/players. Rewriting a single wiki seems like the best plan.
Haiku is easy -
But sometimes it makes no sense.

You mean like our wiki (http://wiki.vgoemulator.net/Docs/Main_Page) that has been here since the project started? Just needs styling and organization, but we've been putting Dev data there since Aug 2013.

Moldy, the two wikis would be completely independent - ie., not redundant data. The Dev wiki (above) is for code, documentation of the VGO server itself to help developers get up to speed quicker.

The Player wiki is more of a preservation effort, because I guarantee once coolvanguardwiki_01's domain expires next, they will not renew and all that data is lost forever. That's the only point of making a separate player wiki on VGOPlayers.com.

But I do see what you're saying - my hacked together VGOPlayers Portal could be used to expose game data in a wiki-like manner. I just have zero time to develop that and get anything else done. And this is where you yell at me for not setting you up to help dev, but believe me it is more complex than just giving you php files or I would have done it. Everything is so tightly connected, you couldn't dev locally unless you duplicated the entire site on your hard drive. Ain't nobody got time fo that.

My next day off is Friday, so hopefully I can start up posting those quests and NPCs again then. If you set up the player wiki, I'll post those there as well.

Okay Jak, I'll try and get that set up between now and Fri, though my time is looking pretty limited. If you want, you *can* use the Dev wiki and I can just move the pages over after the fact. I do not want my scheduling to hold you (all) up any longer.
