Content Phase 1: Gathering our Thoughts
Re: Content Phase 1: Gathering our Thoughts
I have my last concert of the season next week so I'm going to start looking at a few things after that.
Re: Content Phase 1: Gathering our Thoughts
I guess I would suggest that we start some threads on the starter areas. I assume if we're making it just like live then we only need four: Isle of Dawn, Tursh, Tanvu, and Khal.
We should lay out all the quests that are available, the goals of the quests, and the rewards of the quests. And we should try to make sure that they're all equal across the board in terms of: difficulty, XP rewards, Gear Rewards (stats and choices), etc.
And then we can also go back and use this for the people that inevitably become GMs or Server Admins if they need to address a problem, we'll have everything laid out for them. If we set it up like a Wiki then if issues crop up, we can edit that wiki with advice or if something is a known issue.

No, I did not mean >that< much just like live We still want the Home Towns option. When I say "Like Live", I mean all the complexities in customization we do not need to deal with today. Building all the old content for the 'x' number of starting Home Town locations will likely keep you guys busy for 6+ mos.

This is a fabulous idea. I ask that you build your topics in the public Content Development (non-Private) area of course, so the community sees your busy work.
We do have a Wiki, just not a lot of data added to it yet. If you'd rather use a Wiki, that's less work for us down the road to transfer all the data to it. But I'll leave that up to the Content Team.

In that case!
We'll need:
Thestra:
Tursh/Rindol Field
Halgarad
Dahknarg
Leth Nurae
Bordinar's Cleft
Qalia:
Lomshir
Hathor Zhi
Khal
Mekalia? (Unsure of where this stands)
Kojan:
Tanvu
Martok
Caiel Brael
I think that's all of them, did I miss any? This includes the little outposts like Whitefawn Retreat that goes along with the starter areas that I can't recall the names of.
So, I guess the idea is that we lay all this stuff out now, and then once the dev team gives us the okay to start adding the content, we'll already have it planned out of what needs to go in.
Before we post this publicly do we want to assign certain areas to certain people? I would volunteer for Dakhnarg and Tursh. The others I don't really know as well.
I'm personally for the Wiki since it seems like it would make it easier for everyone.

Re: Content Phase 1: Gathering our Thoughts
Sure, any way you guys want to do this. The Forums and Wiki are yours. If you want to go Wiki, I will have to add you to the Wiki Authors group (if not already).
I can also make Sub-Forums for Continents (Thestra, Kojan, Qalia) if you want to separate topics by continent. It's all up to you guys.

Re: Content Phase 1: Gathering our Thoughts
I'd suggest the following public subforums:
Thestra Adv
Qalia Adv
Kojan Adv (Isle of Dawn stuff can go in here)
Crafting (Harvesting can go in here as well)
Diplomacy
Raid (Probably not needed now, just thinking of the future)
I think it's important to split off Crafting and Diplo, but I don't think they need their own continental spread.
I guess what we'll need is a list of all the quests and their relevant info (NPCs, Gear, Items, Etc) in the starter areas, then we can kinda branch out from there.
If we allow the public to chime in on stuff, we need to remind them to stay focused and on topic. It's really difficult to keep up with suggestions when they start to argue, or blabber on about things that don't matter *in this forum* (Such as a druid having poor DPS when we're trying to work on quest rewards).

Re: Content Phase 1: Gathering our Thoughts
I have created the 6 new sub-forums under Development->Content. All the sub-forums are locked where only Content Designers can CREATE new posts, but anyone should be able to respond. Feel free to police them however you wish. Odinzz and Moldy are Moderators, though all Content Design team members have Full Access which should let you do anything you want in your little realm
Excited to see how this unfolds.
