I remember that getting this guy to spawn in live was problematic for me. He's still not spawning for me. Is there some trick to getting him to appear?

I have been leveling a number of characters and noticed something strange. My High Elf Ranger is hated almost every place she goes. New T, Khal, Aghram, the Dwarf City (Hell if she passes a dwarf in the wilds they run up and try to kill her), Hillsbury, etc etc The only place she can visit safely ...

Leveling a Ranger. At 15th currently. Still no quest to obtain companion. Have they been implemented yet and when does that trigger? I thought I got one fairly early when I played in live.

I was a solo player when Vanguard was live and so missed out on the high end material. I noticed a number of doors in the castle at New T that didn't open as well as the door to the palace in Tanvu and Aghram. Is there some quest or content that opens up these areas?
