Help a new Diplomat please?

I have just finished the Isle of Dawn and moved my first character to Qa riverbank. I look around with wonder in my eyes, rub my hands with glee and set out to make my mark on this new world. After all, aren't I a level 10Adventurer, crafter and Diplomat? Ok, back to earth (or Telon) with a bump. Adventuring is no problem, crafting is not so easy, but I will work at it, but Diplomacy? I was just starting to think I had got the hang of diplomacy and was enjoying the parleys and stories I was learning through diplomacy. Suddenly I am confronted by the need to increase my presence to 50 before I can even start to parley with some of these NPCs, in fact I have yet to find anyone I can parley with!

Am I in the wrong area, not found where to get the right gear to raise my presence or have I totally missed something I should have done? How can I raise my presence if I can't find anyone to parley with? (sob, no-one wants to talk to me, sniff) I did get a parley quest from the Sultan's rep to talk to the leader of the Grey Knights over the river, but when I approach her she tells me to get lost and there is not even a parley option available let alone one with a presence requirement.

Well, there are much more experienced Diplomats then me out there, but what i did, was to go to my original hometown and done starting diplo quest line.
Im not sure is there similar in Qa, but home town lore is great.
    Take a look:

Rewards are ok an there are also lots of low level parleys to be made.
    Good luck!

OK thanks for that, but it brings up a problem still. I am a Gnome, I made my way to Mekalia and it seems I need to find my diplomacy tutor in Thenaton Square, but I can't get in because of the blockade? Has things changed and Mekalia is now off limits? Is there somewhere else I am supposed to go? Or is there something I am supposed to do first to allow access to Makalia even for a gnome?

You can do the starter quests in any city - Khal would probably be easiest - but at level 10 the easiest path would be to complete the Grey Knights and continue down that quest line. The reason he won't speak to you is he is expecting a Ksavari, you were provided with an illusion mask to fool him when you took the quest.
    Good luck, and have fun!

One thing I do is I check the closest big cities and see if any diplo buffs are up that add to presence. Then run and do some parleys while the buff is up. This tends to help greatly in getting folks to talk to you :)
Khal usually( not always) has some diplo buffs up. and there are some good lower level quest to maybe fill in some gear gaps on certain presences there. There is a little diplo building out front of Khal to get these started.
    Good Luck!

Podgie, the Diplomat's Saga from The Isle of Dawn suggests going to Qa Riverbank to continue along the path of the diplomat. There is an NPC there at Qa Riverbank who will give you a quest to go speak with some nasty knights and a disguise to do so. Upon completing that quest you will be rewarded a prestigious bauble and a horse, and be instructed to head to New Targonor where your path on the Diplomat's Saga will continue. This is a wonderful quest line and awards some really nice gear. Being that you are level 10 in diplomacy, you can equip any of the crafter made diplomacy items, so hold onto that bauble that you received as a reward, notice which presence are most lacking and then look up a smith in game who can craft the diplomacy handheld items for you so as to move you over any hump that you find (you can look for me as I can make them with my smith Thalatth). I have 11 characters, so it is usually easiest to shout for me as Aasha in /craft, /dip, /diplomacy and/or /help and if I am on in any form I will do all that I can to assist. You can also feel free to PM me here. If you have more questions, please do give me a shout. Diplomacy is my most favorite sphere and I certainly do not want to see any eager diplomats getting jaded due to not feeling they know quite well enough what path they would like to take.

    All the best!

**Edit, I just noticed your signature and it seems that you might be on Halgar, where as I am on Telon, but should you like to PM, please feel free.

Wow 11 toons? Aasha have you been playing since Vanguard started?

Yep, I started the character Aasha, my Blood Mage, in open beta. I have a second account as well, but only one character presently on it. What can I say, VG is a home for me! :D
