I did not imply that your patch included this, i reported it because its broken and i ran into it. Now you know, now you can go make a patch for it eh ?

Fair enough, although I'd rather stick to the specific things we're interested in testing. Any time you have a bug, PM me and we can chat about it more there. =)

Log on to test today. played around with the LFG tool very impressive.need an option to turn it off in the chat options, and adding LFG on the persons name. if you add those you have a great LFG for us.

Hey guys. I'm currently building an update and will patch it out as soon as it's finished (later this afternoon, PST). Here's some notes about what's in this update.

    Update 1:
    1. Some LFG improvement changes
      1. Using /LFG will now make "(LFG)" appear on your character's nameplate.
      2. Toggling LFG/LFM are mutually exclusive from /AFK. When you go /afk, it will remove your LFG and LFM status if they are true. The same goes with toggling LFG or LFM on--it will remove your AFK status.
    2. Screenshots
      1. You can now use the /ScreenshotName command to set a base name for your screenshots (which get a number added to them when actually taken). "/" and "\" are invalid characters. Please test other special characters that file systems don't like to see if they work.
      2. When you take a screenshot, you will now be told what the name of the screenshot is, and where it was saved to in relation to your installation directory.
    Known Issues
    1. You cannot currently filter LFG in the Chat Options window. - Fixed in this update.
    2. The LFG filter does not toggle on by default for the main chat window. However, once toggled, this will persist through sessions.
I know the LFG and screenshot tools are easy to jump on and play with because they don't require other people to make use of, but I'd really like to get a good solid test on the lag spike optimization. If anybody of the guilds can organize a raid, let me know and we'll schedule a time to see how it goes.

Edit - Ops is patching this out now.

P.S. Happy Memorial Day to all the US players. =)

Weeee! I requested this here! lol Nice!

@Tloch any chance you can look at my post below that? I'd like to know your thoughts about that, if you have time.

    Thank you Sir.

That's more of a question for a graphics programmer. Not me. =P Which means that it probably won't happen anytime soon. I would suggest trying to use the snipping tool in Windows. In Win7, click on the start menu and search "snip" and it should come up.

Tried it out, all seemed to work fine but I was the only one online. I do have some feedback:

It wasn't on by default, if new can't see the channel they might have a hard time finding it, I think it'd be best to have it on as default, and all the antisocial old vets can then turn it off.

The /lfg and /lfm isn't very intuitive unless you have it explained to you, I'm imaging a lot of messages that read something like ChatName: LFG LF Tank for KE lvl 17, remove the enforced LFG and LFM bits, or at least pre-type them in the chat box so players can see they'll be added in front of their message (and delete them if desired).
  8. TLoch Developer

But if a group was seeking out a tank, they would say "/lfm need tank for KE lvl 17", rather than saying "/lfg LF tank for KE lvl 17".

this makes perfectly good sense to me. Most people already get the LFG , LFM is new to some but won't be much of a learning curve. so far so good in my book

My point was just that there's no instruction to players on this functionality, that you can use the /lfm command or that it exists. I'd assume most players would be able to see the name of the channel and type /lfg <message> but not that they can also type /lfm <message>
  11. TLoch Developer

Ahh... I see your point now. I wonder if there is a good method of educating players in an intuitive manner on how to use it.

get rid of some of the outdated messages on the chat screen at log in and replace them with a simple, Looking for Group? use the /lfg or /lfm feature. example ./lfm KE group needs tank lvl 14+
it wont take long for the community to figure it out.

Or maybe game tips at the loading screen?

there are game tips on the loading screen?

    Not yet. =P

Just did a character copy to test, and test server has been updates with the latest.

    Updates
    1. More character save optimizations.
    2. Slow Frame profiling--now, whenever you hit a lag spike, we get a report about what caused the server to move so slow.
    3. Added to the list of invalid characters for screenshot names. \ / : ? " < > | * (and space).
    4. When using /lfg while already in a group, your chat messages will go through, but your LFG status will not attempt to be toggled.

Seems a real pain just to log into test. Either the server is down, the chunk i need to log into is asleep, or some combination of the two. 6/1/13 12:17 PM central

one way to introduce the new LFG/LFM tool would be a small quest :) just a thought

On group/small group quests - you could add a line at the bottom "you should bring friends for this". Then add the tip about the lfg/lfm channels to load screens as you suggest TLoch(specially for newbies logging in if it is possible to detect that).
