Low frame rate

    First off specs.
    AMD FX6300 Six-core running @3.5Ghz
    8 GB Ram
Currently using on board ATI Radeon HD3000 (better then my ATI 1950 card that I had in old MOBO I replaced)
    Win7 64bit

Trying to boost my frame rate and performance. Currently when I'm in the game may average FPS is about under 10 on LOW SETTINGS. Every time I try to make a change according to all the guides out there ( most are still from '08 :() I get a increase to around 20 FPS then it drops back down. What am I missing?

Now my girlfriends computer sitting right next to mine is running a Phenom quad core, 8 GB ram, and a Nvidia gtx560 and she has an FPS of over 40 on high settings.

Other the the obvious video card/chipset difference, what is causing mine to have the low frame rate and slow response in moving around?

I am by no means an expert but seems its definitely caused by your onboard video.

I am afraid Apaelias may be right here Whiteboy. Onboard video, although it has kept improving, is still not there yet.

Yeah, thinking so to. I might put my old card in and check but it has a slower clock and only 512MB of ram. Just want to look at other options first as I have other plans for my old system.

OK.. stuck the old card in and it did make a big jump. Running about 25 FPS in towns now on balanced settings. Anyone have a few tweaks to pass on to get it even higher. Also if it matters running in window mode at 1680x1050 (max res on main monitor).

VG is more CPU intense than GPU so anything you can do to help boost CPU will help(MY GPU runs at about 25%-35% of its max all the time). Also I find that turning off fog with the /setfog 9999999 and then reducing clip plane to where I find comfortable works well to cap me at 60fps using vsync running at highest settings at 1600x1200 you can use the "[" "]" to change the clip plane. That is something that helped me hope it helps you.
