Why hello there...

Greetings all,

Dinenon here, but I was better known as Elesar, High Elf Blood Mage and Mineralogist in the early days of the game. I am one of the wandering souls that would always find their way back to the game every couple of months, and hope that I can lend a hand in rebuilding our home.

I'm a scripter (Mostly AutoHotkey with a bit of Python, VBS, Windows Batch & PowerShell, etc) who has dabbled in programming with Java, C++, C# and some others, and also played around with interface authoring when I was playing the game.

I'll be setting up a home server for testing & development in the coming days as I get some free time between work and killing rocks in EVE.

I'm willing to help in testing and content creation as needed. I work in Healthcare IT as an Applications Analyst and Systems Administrator, and will be seen lurking on the forums as I check in between tickets.

Let me know of anything that you think I may be able to help with, and I'll do my best to see it done.

Welcome to the community, Dinenon.

We can always use help with C++; the more coders, the faster the game becomes playable. We'll be looking for LUA Scripters soon(tm), having a little trouble with the raw data currently but we'll get it sorted out. If you've ever written an "if" statement, you can write LUA Scripts. It is a language, but nothing complex. Check out some of Volt's initial examples (subject to change) here.

If you are interested in C++ or World Building, just let me know.

The sample dialog looks easy enough, and I have heard that LUA is very easy to pick up, I just haven't ever taken the time to do so. My C++ skills are rudimentary, but I will take a look through the repo soon and see if there is anything I think I may be able to help with.

I'll also be putting some pressure on a friend of mine (that I actually met through Vanguard) who is also a programmer to see if he would be willing to lend a hand as well. I know he still loves the game, and was quite excited when I linked him to this site a couple weeks ago.

Welcome, Dinenon!

Looking forward to seeing you around. We have an IRC. If you hop on, and have any questions, I'm usually on in the evenings on Mountain (GMT -8) Time.

Dinenon,
Based on your post, you probably have more C++ experience than I do. I coded in C awhile back but hadn't done anything since. I'm enjoying tackling projects and getting back into coding. Jump on in, the water is fine! And bring your friend!
