Forums Relocated
I've had enough of my server crashing, rebooting, and doing all sorts of nasty stuff the second I turn away from it, so I have taken the leap to get VGO onto professional hosting. Took 1/2 the day to get the forums relocated (extremely busy RL at the moment) but as I mentioned before, many things will not work until I figure out how to get this webhost to speak to my local Login server... so here's the list of stuff that WON'T work for now:
[b:uxadn6o0][color=#FF0000:uxadn6o0]Things that are BROKEN[/color:uxadn6o0][/b:uxadn6o0]:
Then Entire Portal --
[list:uxadn6o0][strike:uxadn6o0]- Account Management
- Project Manager
- Bug Tracker
- Server List
- LoginServer Status[/strike:uxadn6o0][/list:u:uxadn6o0]
The Wiki (not working, no idea why)
VGOPlayers.com is my next biggest priority to get fixed, these other modules are secondary. Hopefully today was the last day any of you have to suffer with outages or corruption.

Re: Forums Relocated
Update:
Well this is perfect. I throw down another $50 for "professional webhosting" and it sucks total ass. Constant timeouts, "memory pool" errors, slow, and getting it to talk from the host back to my Login is not very easy, and super slow...
Not sure what else I can do, except risk keeping things on my crashing shitty hardware. I honestly do not have time to deal with this right now.

That sucks, had this myself. They usualy cram there server to there limits wirth fair use cpu limits etc , but one or more customer may harm the entire server..
Maybe we have someone reading here who owns a colocated dedicated box, or atleast a decent virtual server?

Yep... I always had performance issues with the "affordable" hosting services. Have you taken a look at Microsoft Azure? They may have a better balance of cost-to-performance.
Re: Forums Relocated
Please feel free to reach out if we can help, monetarily, for this kind of thing. I'd personally be glad to donate monthly to this cause to get things where they need to be.

Re: Forums Relocated
All,
I appreciate the input and offers. Godaddy hosting is not going to work. The only way to truly emulate a VGO "hub" is to have all databases residing local to one another. The hosting packages at Godaddy are also very sucky, in that they limit everything down to CPU cycles and our busy community ate up all the resources so I could not even host multiple sites.
I may have fixed the problem that was causing my virtual host hardware to lock up so for now, we're back on my host. We'll see how it goes.

Not sure what kind of money you are talking about but AWS still might be a solution at some level.

Re: Forums Relocated
Zew, my hosting is all my own hardware. The only thing I pay for is Internet, which for 2 dedicated IPs is $104/mo. We need 5 MySQL Databases, PHP for the forums/portals, and at least a Linux box for Login/New Telon, and 5 SVNs though only 2 are really needed. That's not even counting all the things we still haven't developed yet. My experience is, "good" services cost more than they need to... because they are good. This is why I host my own stuff.
Xinux and I are looking into alternatives though, as some things have changed here (again) in Phoenix... as in, I may be leaving soon. We'll see.

Re: Forums Relocated
have you looked into a VPS-type solution? They're 'relatively' cheap and I've had good experience with them. Not sure what type of bandwith you eat through though.
the one I've dealt with is:

Hi, I have 2 linux debian dedicated servers with correct bandwidth (one light, one more powerfull), if i can help to host the dev's project (svn, mysql php, login and world server).
I am skilled to install all you need (and manage the dns domain too if need).
MP me if you're interested and to know exactly the system config ^^
