I think its assinine they are looking through PMs to see if anyone is talking about an emu and banning them even though they are closing the game in about 9 days.... SMH

Not that I don't think they are a bunch of fascists, but they may be concerned about legal precedent. If they openly allow people to break TOS on one thing (even though it is silly at this point) that could open a floodgate of issues for them later. I like to think they are turning a blind eye where they can, however their forums are obviously monitored, probably by a bot of sorts looking for keywords.

I was actually spamming pretty hard, anyone who made a post about "missing VG" or "wish it wasn't closing" or "sell VG to us" or "how can we save VG" etc, I sent a generic PM to them that I made up that basically said:

The title was "Saving VG (Shhh)"

"There is a great team who enjoy VG as much as you do, come on over to www.vgoemulator.net and checkout the work they have done so far, you can help if you like or wait for the game to be released, either way, VG is hanging around after sunset "

or something similar, I can't access my account now to check but I know a few people joined up here after my message so maybe they have it still

So someone would of had to of reported my PM for the mods to catch me, which is pretty low, complaining the game was being taken away, someone gives them a bit of hope and a way to keep playing and they reported me lol, oh well, can't please everyone I suppose, there will always be ungrateful little fuckers in this world!

Good point Snom. Honesly I would be surprised if SOE was NOT aware of this project. As JA mentioned on the VG forums "do a google search." So IDK if they are turning a blind eye to this project, or if it takes a while to put together a C&D letter or what, but I am sure SOE is aware we are here. Then again they know all about EQEMU, heck Smedly even offered Rogean of P99 a job, or so I heard lol.

Someone had to have ratted you out. That's a pretty low-life thing to do, but you know how some gamers are... the same asshole that will call the HOA because you have 1 weed in your yard over 3" tall (speaking from experience)

I'm sorry you got banned for something that lame. It should have been for your dozens of hours of stealing in-game content for us

fwiw, I am not banned, and I've send quite a few messages to the red names of SOE's official forums, begging for guidance on post-sunset client distribution. No responses, but not banned either. I even invited Yaviey to become a member of our community

Lol at this point I would have to then say SOE is turning a blind eye to the project just like they do with EQEMU. Thats good then.

You know what would be even more funny? After getting this EMU off the ground, arrange a meetup at SOELive and really rub it in their faces haha! I guess that would really be pushing things though.

Hahaha it's no ones fault but my own, I was trying to be sneaky and messaged any player who said they were sad about VG or had a little rant, there was heaps of them! lol

I actually feel bad though, the guy who emailed a reply was really nice and explained the whole "legal" thing about using/sharing/advertising emulators but said they don't like moderating and said that if I promise to stop sending PMs and basically behave myself he would lift the ban, so I was very polite in my reply and apologised and promised not to PM anymore

He doesn't know about the data thankfully
