All,

We have gotten to a point where it is time to update the public test server again (New Telon) so today I did just that. What you have on this server now is:

- All new world-wide NPC and Object spawning (still not a complete pop, but most named)
- [strike:3izjz8hf]New Spells/Abilities, with the following classes having (partially) usable abilities:
-- Cleric (level 1 - 10)
-- Paladin (level 1 - 10)
-- Warrior (level 1 - 10)
- Other class abilities:
-- Bloodmage, Dreadknight, Necromancer, Ranger and Rogue, spotty test spells[/strike:3izjz8hf]
More spells to come, soon!
- Vendors and Trainers should be working still
- Doors, Music and Sound should be working still
[i:3izjz8hf](I say that about the above 2 lines because this is all brand new data, let us know if they do not work)[/i:3izjz8hf]
- Bindstones and Riftways should work
- Signs on buildings, signposts should work


And for the major feature update: We now have the beginnings of Questing implemented. Thanks to the hard work and mind-scrambling efforts by zippyzee, the Isle of Dawn has the following quests for you to try out:

As an added bonus, zippyzee began investigating Diplomacy and as a result we have a sample of how our Diplomacy mini-game might work. Go to any Diplomacy Instructor (or Rin Go Tentrees in IoD) and give it a try. Keep in mind this is just a prototype, so please no /bug reports on Diplomacy.


Note, this is a massive update to this server so while I feel pretty good about how well we tested it, there still could be crashes or unexpected results. If the server crashes, stay calm and breathe slowly - one of the devs will get it back running again shortly.

Here's a list of the bugs we've run across while testing:

Adventuring:
-Sparklies sometimes still persist after getting the seeds. Sparklies also sometimes don't show up. Sparklies are rebelious.
-Veteran Sixfish sometimes shows as having a quest even if you take them all. Veteran Sixfish will need to return to the NPC management and training seminars.
-Veteran Sixfish offers way too many choices in quest rewards. Veteran Sixfish forgets he is not Santa Claus.
-Kamashi Sunrain and Shui Redwine are not interested in your questing shenanigans.
[b:g3egxije]-Go Train sends you to the wrong trainer. You guys don't need to report this! We know![/size:g3egxije][/b:g3egxije]
-You can ninja other people's loot.
-Stat points can't be allocated.
-Compass doesn't clear after finding Hom On Ovis after turning in "Aide for the Hermit". He's not very good at hiding afterall.
-The other trainers offer quests. The other trainers are liars.
-Crafting stations are attackable. They will also chase you down with a vengeance.
-Player Healthbars visually unaffected by IOD mobs. The mobs will kill you, however.
-XP may not be gained from quest turn-ins


Diplomacy:
A lot of the cards are working inconstantly, and some of them do the opposite of what they should. Some are taking fuel when they are supposed to get it, and some appear to get the fuel required and point movement totals mixed up. Suffice to say it's very early in and we're aware that the cards are not working properly.

Most of the quest issues are due to them not being implemented, such as going to the diplomacy/crafting trainers, and whatnot. There still seems to be some issues as far as getting sent to the right person on "Go Train' so I will look into it.

If you can give me a few examples of diplomacy cards that don't work correctly I can take a look. The ones I used in testing seemed to function correctly. There are some with messed-up values in the database where unsigned int is being used instead of int.

Here's what I noticed so far with the cards. I just figured that they'll need a lot of tweaking since you just added diplo in the past few days.


Disarming Rebuttal removes opponent's Red fuel (Demand).
Lay Blame - Says it gives opponent 214 yellow fuel (Entertainment). Actually takes away their yellow fuel. Then gives them a ton of yellow fuel.
-Piece of Mind stole all my opponent's fuel. Cool.
-Frank Discussion took my reds instead giving me reds!

So I tried diploing with Rin Go on Targonor, and I noticed several things. I assume you don't want these bugged, so I'll just note them here.

1. At one point in the parlay, Rin Go as 2R, 1G, xB, 1Y pips, and I have 3R, 1G, xB, 1Y pips. Rin Go plays Aggressive Statement, which should deduct 2 red pips from Rin Go and add 1 blue to me (but blue is not in play). However, no red pips are deducted. This is the only pip-deducting card he plays, and it does not seem ever to deduct the pips. They are deducted when I play it.

2. When I try playing Aggressive Statement using double click (which I had been using for all previous cards), it does not play. Clicking "Speak" in the UI does work, however. The same is true for Enticing Whisper. I was able to double-click Varanthari Stare the first time I played it, but not the second. This is not positional, as moving the cards to different slots does not help. Other cards I have tried can all be played by double-clicking.

3. When I try to right click Aggressive Statement to see if there is a context-sensitive right click menu, it deletes the card from my deck (not the library, just the active deck). I do not remember this ever happening to me in released VG. I thought the deck was locked once a parlay stared. However, I did a lot less diplo than other people, so maybe I'm just mis-remembering how things worked.

Looked on blood mage--no mobs around west coast of Tanvu. The buff, which was working for hp, gives a message in general chat: Targets 1/6 (name). Did not apply.

On warrior--no mobs north of Martok but found one named wisp. Both the attack and the buff said: Targets 1/0 (name). Neither ability did anything besides the attack cost endurance. Killed wisp with auto attack as usual. Saw some NPCs but otherwise the area was unpopulated.

Updated the opening post, I was unaware the class abilities/spells were so broken. That's not the code, that is because me and Faux are mid-way through rewriting the entire spell/casting system and some variables no longer work the way they were originally scripted. Soon as I get some time I'll update the existing levels 1-10 and (hopefully) finish the other classes.

Faux did an amazing job refactoring the Lua Spells system and getting the parameters sorted out for spell lines, so those should start coming to life soon.

Always keep in mind, there's still only a few of us actively working on this part-time, and it is more data than you have probably ever sifted through in your life so the continued patience is appreciated.

I should also be committing a fix tomorrow (hopefully) that will link up animations casting again since right now the impact animation is not being played.
Like John said, we are right in the middle of a major rewrite of the spell casting backbone to give us more flexibility and within a week or two we should see a bunch more spells coming online, including HoTs and DoTs.

That message about targets is for AE spell debugging. I'll disable those messages for non AEs because I can see it is probably confusing.
