Any questions for original Vanguard Devs?
I recently found out a couple of the original Sigil dev's have joined my studio.
They were very excited to hear about the VGO project.
One of them is the original designer of Mekalia (among other zones). The other did The Tomb of Lord Tsang (among others).
If anyone has any questions I will see about forwarding them on.
I am still working on getting them in the loop with the project, but we are really busy with our latest release.

You recently found out? This makes me wonder if they hid that from you! If I worked for Sigil, I probably wouldn't want future potential employers knowing I worked for VG at launch, myself!
You'll have to ask him why he spent so much time making Mekalia one of the must beautiful and interesting cities on VG, just to fill it with gnomes.

Well about 70 people in our studio, and our jobs do not interact generally.
It was purely by accident as I was commenting about some new pc parts(high-end parts) he had bought for a new system he was building and he mentioned it was just to play EQ1, which was a joke. But then I said I had played EQ1 extensively and it went form there.
One of our DD's who just quit was one of the original UO team, and then went to SoE and EQ2. We would have some fun talks about UO. I was a bit surprised to learn their DB was a simple flat file, which I guess explained the constant crashing and roll-backs in the original days.
Haha - and he LOVES gnomes, so I already know that answer.

This is actually pretty cool. You should try and see if one of them wants to spend some free time to help revive good ol' VG. It's for a good cause!

Hello,
I'm not sure if these are the questions you are meaning for people to ask, but I figure I will try incase they are.
I have played vg from beta up till almost the very end. I loved exploreing in vg and explored alot. Im not great with words so I am not sure if I will explain these right but I'll try. I'm not sure if you will know some of these since some are after the launch. I have always wondered these questions.
These are for Pre 50+ like before apw, kdq, ect.
Where there any hidden or secret dungeons, buildings, doors, bosses, that you all added that was never found? ( I know there was 1 in or around jahrru flats. You would run inside a cave and up the ramp there was a rock face wall that you clicked and it opened up a door with I think lvl 42 3-5 dot mobs in there that looked like huge buffed salamanders. Something like that) Also there was a door laying on the ground ( I think it was if you were in hero's pain running towards Old Targonor) and the door on the ground would open and lead you inside a room that had 3 other rooms inside and also 1 npc I think that didnt tell you anything) There was a unfinished one I remember I think it was below jathred twist that you had to glitch yourself into being able to go threw a rock. This place use to be right next to empty town that you would go threw a wooden door on the floor in one of the houses and you had a great mining area untill they added like lvl 53 minotuars. Also I remember one time me and my cousin were exploreing bordiar's cleft I belive and we went to the top of the castle jumped up onto the rocks ran around up there for awhile and came across this huge white snake that was there all alone. I went back many times threw out the years and never found it again. If you know of that was it a quest mob or something bugged? because I never saw it again.
Were there any items that were never found?
Were there any under water dungeons? ( I vaguely remember swimming one day and came across a whole under water and swam up into a small cave but im not 100% sure)
Were there ever any hidden mobs that were added into the deepest water parts? or any giant fish/mobs in the water?
I'm not sure if these are the questions you are meaning for people to ask, but I figure I will try incase they are.

If I remember correctly it spawned at the bottom of a big lake in that chunk. Think you had to swim down there to get it spawn.

Re: Any questions for original Vanguard Devs?
I've seen many mobs and NPCs in the emulator that I never saw in all my years in game. There were tons of unfinished things that are still in the data files evidently LOL.
Re: Any questions for original Vanguard Devs?
Yeah, if I remember right I know which lake your talking about and swimming down there, but this snake was on top of a mountian. I remember jumping off the top of the castle and running around the rocks and finding it lol.
I know I was told there was a under water city that never went live and could only .rifted to. i'd like to check that spot out if anyone knows the loc?
Also, I remember seeing books down in cis or csi I forget the name right off hand it's been too long lol But there was a npc selling books for 62 plat if I remember right. I think they were called like book of flight, book of speed, book of rift, book of underwater breathing, ect.. What were those for? and what did they do?
