Crafting Questions
I've been leveling a few crafters because I really loved the crafting game in live, and had a couple of questions that I couldn't find answers to on prior posts, or at least not recent answers (I think I did see some commentary that was ~3 years old or so). I recognize the game is still in a very early state, and that the answer to many of these may be "don't know, it isn't done yet", which is fine, but just thought I'd ask in case.
For background, I've done all the IOD quests, got 3 crafters to level 9 or 10, and have moved all three to starter cities to continue through work orders. The crafters are one of each type, pre-specialization: Artificer, Outfitter and Blacksmith. I have all the gear from all the quests in IOD, and nothing beyond that.
1. The first thing I noticed when I do work orders is I'm getting crushed by complications - even the very easiest work order I can only occasionally complete to a B quality (maybe 1/10 I can get to A). About half the time I fail to complete at all. I have all my toolbelts set up with appropriate tools to deal with complications, and I'm including utilities that come up in complications also, so I'm rarely in a position where I can't attempt to clear them if it makes sense, but there are just so many of them in succession most times there is just no way to complete them. I saw some chat yesterday where a couple people were commenting that crafting was easy - any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?
2. I notice that the crafting character stats (Problem Solving, Finesse, Ingenuity and Reasoning) are all at least visually affected by gear - do those stats matter in crafting at this point?
3. I noticed that the other crafting stats (station, tool and utility stats along with their parent stats) are *NOT* affected by gear - you can have a +7 tool effectiveness tool equipped, and your tool stats don't go up - at least not visually in the UI. Do these stats matter in crafting at this point?
4. Different color work orders don't seem to have different difficulty to me - they all seem equally hard. Is that what others see as well, or is it just me?
5. Blacksmith work orders seem a LOT harder than Outfitter to me. Anyone else seeing that?
Thanks in advance - before I start /bugging anything I wanted to get a decent baseline for where things were.
Thanks so much for all your work on this great project - it is such a great game!

Re: Crafting Questions
Welcome to VGO and thanks for testing!
To answer your questions as best as I'm able:
1. In Live VG, complications were tier based, so harder ones only popped up during the higher level stuff. In VGO, all complications have a chance to pop, they have not been separated into tiers yet. So you could get a tier 5 complication on a tier 1 recipe. Since this is all skill based, and if you get a higher level complication with low level skills, it might be nigh impossible to work. There is a work around for now, you can use this command to make yourself level 50: /say .setlevel 50 1 1
If you do this, you will not be able to get lower level work orders, and there might be some other oddities, so don't bug report anything level related (gear, skills, etc, included).
2. @Xinux would have to respond to this one, I'm not sure if that's been set up yet.
3. Another @Xinux Question.
4. When I tested them, the gray/blue ones were easier for me to complete, but if your skill level is too low for the work orders you're doing, and you're getting a lot of tough complications, then it might all seem difficult for you.
5. I want to say this one is perception based because we've had people say the opposite. It could also be that more Blacksmith complications were recorded from Live VG than Outfitter, but again, I can't really say.
Right now we're at the stage of crafting that we just want to make sure that you can start the recipe, it uses up the proper resources for it, and you get the proper items if you finished. The in between stuff is still being worked on.

Re: Crafting Questions
Thanks for the info - really helpful. Seems like the tiering of complications could potentially affect not only the severity of complications (like, as you say, getting a T5 complication in a T1 recipe) but maybe also the frequency - I'm getting both difficult complications to clear, and I'm getting a very large number of them, but my recollection from live is that complications tend to be both fewer and easier as your level increases relative to the recipe you're doing.
If others are saying that outfitter is harder than blacksmith, then you're probably right that it's just my perception.
Looking forward to hearing from Xinux on the stat stuff. Thanks again Jakkal.
