Rumors and Myths?

I heard a rumor that there is a VG emulator project brewing. Couldn't come at a better time, since the live game is dying like a run-down dog in the middle of the desert...
Stay tuned!

I have opened these hidden forums in the hopes of drawing some attention to starting a Vanguard : Saga of Heroes Emulator before the game goes the way of the dinosaur.
With nearly everyone I know leaving the game (including myself), it's only a matter of time before the developer either pulls off an amazing recovery, or pulls the plug. I am hoping for the former, because I truly love the game - as limited the content was. Regardless, this game needs to be emulated - because if nothing else, perhaps the emulator version could be fixed to be more fun.
I posted some mirrors to some work Ramsay (of SWGEmu) started in closed beta. His hopes were that someone would pick up the project, but unless it's super underground, I have found nothing.
So what do we need to get started? Encryption will need to be worked out. Do we need live logs? How do you collect them, tcpdump everything? I would be very willing to run around all of Telon (again... sigh) to collect information to roll this sucker into action.
Let's chat.

The only thing remotely VG Emu that I found is a domain Ramsay (of SWGEmu) owns that has some very rudimentary login/server code on it back from beta. I looked into it, but man - I do not get it. I am not a programmer heh...
I imagine SOE will keep the game alive for a while at least, so hopefully some smart programmer will get a bug up their butt and start something up.
Right now, I wish I knew if "collecting" could be done regardless. I'd be happy to run everywhere. I played VG through APW, then burned out on same shit, over and over.

(a yearish later...) I'd love to see something like this happen too. The VG Classes have been some of my favorites; the potential is definitely there

Nope, no one is far as I can tell. Ramsay did that little bit pre-release, and I have not been able to find a shred of info about a project not related to vgoemu.com

I absolutely adored this game, it's a big shame it's dying, making it available to the emulator community officially would make at least keep those amazing art assets alive.
They should do something similar with matrix online too! Not as nice a game though!
