Confirmed. Using a spear gives you thrown skillups. The spears equip and function properly as two handed weapons, but you get Thrown skillups in the chat when you use it.

Ok I'll take a look at this.

Statistic id was set to Javelin and Spear in the database making these use thrown skill ups. Only pertained to Pig Pike, Asak's Fishing Spear, and Pumpkin Impaler. All 3 should now correctly be tagged as Great Spears and use 2h piercing.
