Details:
I'm using the black venerable griffon. Everytime I try to fly, it only hovers, I cannot gain or lose altitude. If I land and take off again, it works as intended.

If i had to guess you probably have items equipped that you normally wouldn't. For instance you are level 50 with level 55 items equipped etc etc.

The client does funny stuff when you do stuff like that.

Try removing any invalid items logging completely out then back in.
