Hello Everyone!

So, let's make a long story longer, shall we? I last logged into Vanguard sometime between January and July 2014, after a small hiatus.. I hadn't read any news, knew nothing of the forthcoming sunset for VG. I got in, started playing my Druid and was hooked once again. I started to hear people speak the world was ending, I blew them off as nay sayers.

Soon enough, after a little looking, I find they were correct. Vanguard is the only game that drew me in and hooked me as well as Asherons Call did. I love AC as well, but can no longer abide by the look and clunkiness of the game. So, I played until the last moment, never really thinking what an impact the last day of VG would have on me. I didn't even think about Screen Shots or Video! Stupid me. Ever since, I have been scouring for something to feed that "thing" VG has given us all. Tera, WOW, Rift, The other Trion game, The Secret World, AC again, EQ 2, you name it, I went back to it searching for something I would never find again, until today.

So, I'm scouring Bing for things like, "games like Vanguard Saga of Heros" or "Vanguard Private Servers". After literally hours, yep, I was determined, I found you all, here, tucked away in a small corner, talking about resurrecting one of, if not my all time favorite games. Needless to say in was shocked and didn't believe a word of it. Then I started poking around an noticed there are actual current posts from developers actually working on resurrecting Vanguard!

I couldn't be happier to land here. My name is Randy, I am 43, a father to a gorgeous 12 year old daughter/gamer, husband to a beautiful wife and a Deputy Sheriff. I've been MMOing non stop since the beta of Asheron's Call and I have not looked back.

I am more than willing to help ANY WAY I CAN, testing, monetary, emotional, you name it. I want to help make this a reality. However, I feel a little like a new kid in the neighborhood going to the park for the first time and asking the kids there, "Can I play too??"

I'll keep snooping around and figure out how to get started (I'm assuming the client download first, my box copy is no good from what I've read?) Please feel free to contact me for anything. I look forward to being able to help!

I recommend that you read the guide on http://wiki.vgoemulator.net/Docs/Guides:Player_Guide if you haven't done so already. It should explain how to create a new account and things like that.

Thanks for the welcome guys/gals! I've looked at the getting started thing. I see no mention of previous usernames. However I've seen people mention their characters still there or items still there? Is this possible?

If you were a data collector then your character will be saved but we cannot play them, I think John is going to turn our mains into statues or something to be remembered in game but allowing us to play them would be OP! We have to all start fresh

A lot of us (I would say the majority) use our main characters name as a forum name here and also our in game name on the VGO official server so we know who is who, you can of course use whatever name you like.

Thanks Kil, good to hear actually that we all have to start over. It'll bring back a lot of memories, specifically the wolf mount quest... man.... or, getting my dragon mount... weee! Unfortunately, I was not a data collector, I just found out about this project, but I am here now, willing to fully support in anyway I can.

Currently downloading! Can't wait!

I changed main almost every time I changed guild so I created a new name for New Telon.

My main in Founders Keepers was Windrider
My main in Phoenix Rising was Wlad Harvek
My main in ? was Storus Fotus
My main in Twighlyte Song was Hablo Leafler
My main in Cobra was Afram Dumbletook
Most PUG raids knew me as Igmanium

Hi Utildai,

You can still most certainly help! Combat (being one of the major pieces to an RPG mmo) is going to need a lot of tweaking and brainstorming from experienced players, as all of the monster statistics and combat calculations are kept server-side, and so we will need to derive those ourselves. We have some combat-related threads if you have a good intuition of how Vanguard functioned!

And of course, log into New Telon and help us test!
