I'm having a bit of an issue. Wondering if anyone else is/has experienced it.

I logged in, started questing and everything was fine. Suddenly the window just closes. So I close everything else down and start back up. It gets to the Char select screen, shows no chars but says I have 0/8 slots available. Eventually it says "Waiting on Servers" at the bottom then once again promptly closes. I try loading VG with NOTHING else running and same thing.

Says the server is up.

Any ideas?

Didn't VG used to shut down every night at 5am or something?

I noticed the VGClient.exe patched last night for me (2/3/2014 @ 8:15pm) but worked for me all night til this morning. As of this morning mine also shows 0/8 and Waiting for response from World Servers...

I'm even trying different source IPs. Tried all my accounts, including ones I never collected on, so it's not a blacklist scenario that I can tell. Perhaps they are updating stuff to fix the chunk crashes. Let's try again in a few hours, before I panic

Well, the good news is I'm not alone. I was hoping to work hard today since I have nothing else to do (yay for snow days!).

I will try every 30 minutes or so!

PS: I seem to be so overly paranoid about being blacklisted, in case you didn't notice... comes from us being banned almost instantly while collecting for EQ2Emulator for years hehe. Xinux did a great job solving that for us, but the horrors of losing my valuable junk accounts stays with me

Nah, it's fine! I get it. I am hoping that they are bored enough with Vanguard they won't even care - or try to stop it.

EQ2 is still live and probably will be for awhile. So I can understand them trying to prevent losing money from people who would have another option.

Anyhow, the server status now says, "Live Admin"

Interesting, perhaps this is just the nightly shutdown or some fix to the crashing chunks.

HOWEVER!!! I got rolled back. /sadface

I do not remember any nightly shutdowns, but they have been having issues with their most recent "fix", and lots of chunks were crashing bad. Probably related to that.

I remember back in 2007, I think the world servers went offline every morning at 5am PST or something like that. Unless I am thinking of another game (EVE?)

No, they restart the server every day at 5 AM

Actually found this out while trying to figure out why this was happening.
