Grouping Bug (Maybe)
I am using a Client I found on an External HD. It is my client. The VGClient.exe file is dated 9/16/13. The VGClient.ini I am not sure on exact date, probably the same or close to .exe date, it is [Version] VanguardINIVersion=14. I remember trying modifications within the .ini file, but can not remember all that I modified, mainly performance stuff.
I have made 3 different vanguard folders, each with a copy of the client Files I found. I also have 3 separate Launchers, installed in 3 independent folders. Each launcher points to a different Client Folder.
I have 3 separate accounts associated with 3 different emails. 3 independent login credentials basically.
I did this to be able to launch more than one client at a time.
I am having problems keeping more than one client running at one time. I can invite others to a group, but I can not accept a group invite. I tested this a bit today with Moldew. He could accept my invite, but I could not accept his. I do not get an accept window. I do not have a group window, showing group members, but I see group chat.
What I type in a chat box does not always show in chat.
When right clicking another char to initiate a trade, I get the cannot trade at this time message, or the trade window flashes very quickly. Can not trade.
I am thinking that maybe some of my client files are corrupted, since I am having these multiple issues.
This is being mentioned since I talked to Moldew in game about it.
I am downloading the Client available on MEGA. I will install this client and link to a new account to see if I have the same issues. I will post here when I have.
Just an FYI

Re: Grouping Bug (Maybe)
You don't need multiple folders for Vanguard. When you run the launcher, there's a dropdown at the top next to the account name where you can pick which account to use. After you have one VG open with an account, you can re-run the same launcher, change the account, and launch another VG.
As for the grouping issues, it does sound like it could be corrupted/missing files. Hopefully the new download fixes the issues.

Re: Grouping Bug (Maybe)
A good start would be to d/l the client and start fresh to rule out anything odd with your old setup. Also, I use the same install for multiple logins like Onca mentioned, so I don't think having multiple installs will make a difference.
Let us know how a new install works. Xinux also mentioned that they may need to do a little work on that code for grouping, but he can explain/chime in on that.
Thanks for testing today!
See you soon,

Re: Grouping Bug (Maybe)
I was able to download a new set of Client files from MEGA. I Installed these and set up a new Launcher folder specifically for this and pointed the launcher to the new Client bin folder.
I logged in 2 accounts using the new launcher folder and the new client files. So..I have 2 accounts logged into game currently using the new Client.
I was able to group invite and created a group. I have a Group List Window on Both toons showing both toons, as it should be.
I have no issues of being disconnected/closing of account client.
I was to create a trade window and trade with both toons.
I seem to have no chat problems.
I conclude that my old client has corrupted files and does not function properly.
More testing will be done as time allows.
I use different client folders so that I can clearly see how CPU affinity is working, etc..for performance tweaking. Even though I do not need more than one Client Folder, and can open multiple instances of the game from one launcher and one client folder, I use multiple for various reasons. I will test it both ways. This is mainly just a thing I do from past experience.
When I would 4 box in EQ; for example, I used four independent game folders, 1 for each account. Not required, but was preferred.
Great Job so far. If you need me to help in testing some things, and I have time, I will.
Have a Great day!

Great! I screwed around with CPU affinity for a little bit, been a while though... I'd be interested in how CPU affinity has helped you.

Re: Grouping Bug (Maybe)
Have to test things a bit here. Vanguard uses a modified Unreal Engine, so probably very CPU intensive. Depends on the Game, Engine, optimization, etc.
With running multiple instances of a game, sometimes a single CPU core can become maxed out, while the CPU itself is not, depends on the Engine, etc, etc. Being able to change what Core is used, or how the load is spread over the cores, helps. I am not a Hardware Engineer. I have found this out from reading, learning, and testing stuff, because I find it fun

Re: Grouping Bug (Maybe)
PC-wise, Vanguard does not really hyperthread, will mostly only run on one core so a 3 GHz single core should run faster than 2GHz dual core.
One thing I found that helps is to go into system settings, and raise the Virtual RAM to 150% of the physical RAM.

Re: Grouping Bug (Maybe)
FYI, not exactly pertaining to this thread since it looks like it was a client issue, but I've seen all of the bug reports on groups lately. I just completed a major rework of that code so things should be working much better once I update the server (later tonight). Notably the endurance/energy/hp bar in the group window should update now along with the location markers on the map. Let me know if you see anything else.
