Mobs drop aggro when hate reduction abilities are repeatedly used

I was playing my disciple yesterday, and I spammed Soul Cutter and the mob I was fighting dropped aggro completely after a while.
I experimented with other mobs, and it appears that spamming Soul Cutter allows you to completely erase your hate and exit combat with repeated uses when soloing.
