Did diplo leveling ever get fixed in live?
Its been a long time, but I remember trying to lvl diplomacy back in the day was hard to get started. This was back before IoD was in the game, but it was really hard to get the presence needed to get started. I remember having to go in the diplo channel or something like that, and having someone send me a whole mess of diplo clothes and whatnot do get going. Did that ever get smoothed out?

It was challenging but doing parleys with certain low level npcs would reward you with the clothing and items needed to boost your presence.
This was changed though and made almost too easy (like everything else) with IoD and a bunch of other changes to exp/faction rates but with the starting quests and low level parleys for papers/presence rewards it was fine, it just took a bit longer and required that you interact with other diplomats to ask questions and work together for information, which I really liked

One of the better changes they made from beta was to go from diplomacy skills to diplomacy levels. I think that made it a little easier (Cuz skillups were random and hard to get). I think the problem was that they made the XP gain absurd for it.

Yeah I agree with the beta to release change, it was for the best and the levelling system in Diplo was balanced but just exaggerated, so instead of getting 1000 exp reward from a parley and needing 10,000 exp to ding a level, Diplo gave you 1,000,000 reward and required that you get 10,000,000 to ding (for a simplified example anyway) so the numbers were greatly exaggerated but still balanced, if that could be brought back down to be inline with Crafting and Adventuring, I think it would make a lot more sense but still it's superficial and not needed.
It was easier and faster to level diplo than it was to level adventuring and crafting.
I was able to powerlevel one of my 8 max level diplomats from 1-50 in 16 hours game time with exp vet reward pots, mostly because after 7 previous diplomats, I knew where to go and what to parley but it was still ridiculously easy and I feel in need of balancing to nerf it a bit and make it harder/longer, which would probably get a poor response from Makar and others who thought it was hard lol
So I would suggest leaving it and continue the player interaction to help trade papers and information etc. thing like that made VGs community stand out from other games in my opinion.
