Nexus.

I found a fair bit of stuff here about "Nexus" and the abandoning of VG, erc etc which did not solve the very basic problem we had.

We started a new High Elf. At the end of the character creation period it should have moved to Home town Leth Nurae, but it arrived on something called "Nexus". This seemed to be a fairtly simple platform with a sparkly red ramp which went nowhere and no exit. There was total panic till she was told how to rift away.

Curious to know what this no-way-off platform is as it does not seem to match up with anything I dredged up on a "nexus" search. Probably an unrepeatable experience on an area being worked on? But how come? It seemed to have no purpose at all.

Sounds like one of the GMs locked the chunk (Which is what we do when we're working on a chunk and can't have any players in it) but didn't unlock it when they were done. Or you tried to create a character when a GM was working in the chunk that was locked.

I know Jehlicka has been working on the cleanup in this chunk and might have been on and working when you tried to play.

I've asked the devs to change the lockout teleport to Isle of Dawn instead of Nexus. I don't know why it was set to Nexus to begin with. I've also suggested they put in a chat message to let players know why their toon ended up in a chunk they weren't expecting to be in.

Thanks Jakkal. So Nexus is something in use by the Devs, and not just a left over fragment from the disaster in, when was it, 2014?

Nexus was supposed to be a raid dungeon that the Live VG devs were working on, but never got to do much with it before the sunset announcement. So we use it as a dev chunk. When the VGO devs gave us the ability to lock out chunks, which is necessary for doing work in the chunk sometimes, they set it so anyone logging into the chunk or starting a character in the chunk would show up in Nexus. I don't know why they picked Nexus (perhaps because nothing was in it at the time and we had so few players that it didn't matter). But I try to avoid setting things up that serve to confuse people who might not be keeping up with development.
