Shadow under NPC names
There's just one thing I can think of really quick that has driven me crazy for years on VG and also contributed to many headaches.
The names in VG of non-offensive targets were always yellow. Add this to the too-bright Qalian sand and you've got a name you can't read.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

I always wished that VG would either change that color to something easier to read, make the sand darker so it wasn't migraine inducing or put a shadow effect under the next so you can *read* it.
And we know they can put shadows under the text because that's what the UI had for chat.
Actually I'd just be happy if all the bright white/yellow sand was toned down a few notches.

Re: Shadow under NPC names
Something tells me this should be accomplished via edits to the XML for the UI. If I recall, there was mention that you could change any of the fonts and colours there so I don't see why one couldn't edit the UI to give some shadowing or background to mob names.
That yellow in Qalian sand thing was definitely annoying.
