Reduce automatic dismounting
One of the annoyances of traveling through VG for me was the automatic dismounting areas. For this I'm referring to the (mostly) indoor areas where you were immediately dismounted when entering. Areas like the NT entrance tunnel and Khal interiors. It makes sense to dismount players around NPCs, especially indoors where the area is already limited, so people aren't blocked from accessing them. However when trying to cut through a building to get from point A to point B, it just ended up being a nuisance.
An idea that just popped into my head was that those areas could only dismount if the player actually stops within it. This way cutting through buildings on a mount would be possible, but if you stopped and forgot you were on a mount, only then it would kick you off. The areas would also allow summoning a mount, but still knock you off if you didn't move. Places where mounts were forbidden would still be an instant dismount/no summon area.

Some of the mounts were actually too big to fit in some doors, though. The griffon doesn't fit in the doors to Khal, for example.
Re: Reduce automatic dismounting
Maybe not, but a shadowhound prolly would. I always thought it was pretty dumb that you would get dismounted at the entrance to NT, only to remount on the other side of the tunnel...

Standard horses could fit through Khal archways IIRC. There may also be other places where dismounting happens that would benefit from this, just those were the first two that came to mind.
Re: Reduce automatic dismounting
One of my toons would get dismounted and one of mine would not get dismounted while running into NT. Was pretty odd.
Re: Reduce automatic dismounting
The NT tunnel was always a bit stochastic regarding that. I agree that some areas ought to be changed, like NT tunnel and Ahgram passages. But I would expect the city guards to come and teach you some proper manner if you ride your mount indoors, like in Khal bank.
Re: Reduce automatic dismounting
Guards slapping people off their horses sounds hilariously great.
Re: Reduce automatic dismounting
Yeah, you could fly through the tunnel...most of the time...
I can see it now...trot into town on your horse, buncha guards run after you. Would be fun to see how far you could get before they catch you and knock your ass off!

Maybe if your faction is high enough, the guards just wave you along.

Re: Reduce automatic dismounting
After a bit of testing tonight, I am fairly certain dismounting was done for a reason - at least in most places. Some we can probably take care of, but you are not riding this guy into any buildings anyway
