Brief outage today
Sorry for the little outage, for those who panicked that it was US who were sunsetting a game. Phoenix was having this very strange natural phenomenon - I believe it's called "wind" - and no one knows how to deal with it so power, water, gas and internet services usually just stop working.
We're back, and the outage gave me a reason to relocate my hardware to the Summer NOC

Re: Brief outage today
Another outage caused by some script-kiddie relaying off my SMTP server and sending billions of emails.
As of this moment, my services no longer allow POP/SMTP traffic. Sorry to those who subscribe to forums, but you'll have to start using the RSS feed.

Seriously? We had some firewall update fiasco and when things came back up your site was unavailable, so I was thinking eh? Typically if a site is blocked we would see a msg. But we (my company) does not block anything that I am aware of.
So hopefully it is available tomorrow.

Re: Brief outage today
Another oddity just now. My Linux VMs (the LAMP box and my EQ/Eve emulator servers) were showing 100% CPU in vCenter - thrashing was so bad, I literally could not open a console window to see what was going on. Couldn't SSH, nothing. I was just on the forums when the next "view unread posts" went 404...
So I walk over to the cable modem and pulled the LAN cable out. Instantly, everything was smooth again.
Tell me some asshole isn't intentionally sabotaging my sites? I run many, so I have no idea which one yet. Kinda pissing me off though, ran web services on this IP for 7 years or more, and haven't had a single issue until I opened the VGOEmulator site.
Although it also coincides with another client tweeting his brains out about his projects from his site hosted here... and we all know Twitter is nothing more than a bot feeder.

Re: Brief outage today
I just signed up today and yeah when I came back just a bit ago said it was down. After about 15 minutes I tried it again and it was ok.

Yeah sorry for the outages. Nothing I can do about it except hope "they" get bored and move on. Plus, Cox just informed me that someone in their infinite wisdom dug up a main fiber trunk here in Phoenix, causing outages city-wide for a week.
Re: Brief outage today
So much for self-healing fiber rings and single points of failure.
