My Old VG Site
Sorry for the rough state. I let go the old domain, and a few things are still broken because of that.
Lots of the code is very old as this was started in the VG beta.
There is a lot of data and detail. But this data is all blue sky, nothing from packet parsing except what I would get from logs, so that makes item IDs accurate, which helps a lot.
A lot of content has been added since I stopped updating, most of it higher level gear, but some lower level stuff as well.

It is beyond awesome to see this site again. Lucky for us you are like me, and never throw anything away. Thanks for your efforts in setting this back up.
Re: My Old VG Site
Back in the day when SOE still had a VG website where you could see your toons and their basic gear, I grabbed as much of the item names and IDs as I could with screen scrapes.
There was no other stats aside from icon#, so I have about 400K list of items, IDs and icons.
As I would add item data I would always use the correct Item ID.
I can probably add a quick-search tool purely for IDs if that becomes of interest in doing packets debugging.

The excitement for me, haha, is with packet capture I can now get all that precious item data automatically, that was a nightmare to manually enter.
But now the game is ending.
My original site purpose was a player centric place for players to create character profiles. And guild leaders a place to manage members, shecule and track raids, being able to see all their stats and features.
But to do that you need an item DB. So my site largely turned into and item data-entry job for me.
SO now maybe if the EMU server becomes a reality I can finish that goal. hahaha

Btw Zewzing! I love it. I am so glad you kept all of the files intact for your old site.
The fact that you entered it all manually has me in awe.
Is the site in working order?? My two characters from the beginning of VG still exist, and while neither ever hit 50 (late 40s), much less 55, I would love to capture them someplace. Kinda weird, I know. But, I still have my old characters from EQ on Magelo - and was actually going to just SS all my gear and create my own little profile on my personal website to keep them forever on.
Pretty much every time I came back to VG I would create a new character, mostly because the system was much different than other games, so it wasn't something you could drop for 6 months, come back and remember every detail of how your class works. But my original characters were pretty much suspended in time aside from taking their coin and tradeskill items off them.
I am so weird. ;x But to me, I guess it's kinda like a keepsake of times past!

Re: My Old VG Site
Funny you mention "suspended in time". I just logged in my psi and ranger from 2008, they are exactly where I left them of course, with so many spammed "claim" items, I had to laugh. The psi is 22, the ranger is 15, and my main dude I left at 50 (that's when the guild quit VG). I hope to use them for collecting when I get to the areas that need those levels (still creeped out about possibly losing them, but meh... I'll never play an SOE game again after this).
Re: My Old VG Site
I have not deleted anything on my site, some things have changed over the years. I tried to give players the ability to make their own customs items using the augments, that was a monstrous job.
The sad reason I had to enter everything is I found out that nobody cared any more about entering data on a community site, compared to the old days of eq1 and Alakazam.
A handful of players helped out, oddly mostly European players. But I think I ended up manually entering/editing 40K items myself. Ridiculous.
If you made a character profile it should still be there. Just check the 'Quick Character List' on the left side menu.
I also have the original "VGtact" wiki site. The guy that created it gave me access years ago as he stopped playing and I backed it up.

Re: My Old VG Site
Hey Zing quick question for the items you collected for your site do they have the in-game chat link associated with it?
ie.... <item=1432130:2048312229::0:0:1:382:10:>Zodiac Shield</link>

Re: My Old VG Site
Yes a good majority of them I do. Not sure how useful many will be looks like Sony did a huge reitemization within a year or so. But maybe they just added new stuff and not wiped existing items.
