OverviewEdit

Most of the actions by interacting with the interface, you can also perform by entering a text command into the chat command-line. A list of known commands, and their help descriptions follows, sorted by category. Vanguard's command-line is also predictive, meaning that if you type an incomplete command, it will interpret it as the closest command to the string you entered. Example: "/corpse" will be interpreted as "/corpsedrag"

AbilitiesEdit

/abilities

FORMAT: /abilities
Lists your current spells and abilities

/abilitiesattached

FORMAT: /abilitiesattached
Shows the set of abilities that are attached to your character

/abilitymaster

FORMAT: /abilitymaster <ability keyword> <mastery slot>
Commits the spell to memory in a mastery slot.

/cancelbuff

 FORMAT: /cancelbuff <buff name>
  • This is a useful way of removing buffs that you no longer want, even if the icon is not displayed.
  • If the buff icon is visible in your defenses list, you can also simply right click to remove it.
  • Example usage: /cancelbuff "Infusion I"

/cancelmaintained

 FORMAT: <Unknown>

/cast

 FORMAT: /cast <ability keyword>
 Activates the ability
  • This is the main command for using any skill or spell, and is the macro that all skill buttons use.
  • Example usage: /cast "Mental Blast II"

/details

 FORMAT: /details <ability keyword>
 Gives detailed information on an ability.

/playsong

 FORMAT: /playsong "<name>"
 /playsong is a command for bards, that will attempt to
 begin playing the song that matches the name specified
 as a parameter.

/stopsong

 FORMAT: /stopsong
 If you are currently playing a song (as a bard), when 
 you use this command you will stop playing the song
  • This is a useful macro to have on your hotbar as a Bard.

AssemblyEdit

These commands are usable when you are standing at a crafting Assembly Station.

/assemble

 FORMAT: /assemble
 Attempts to assemble currently selected ingredients

/assemblyaddingredient

 FORMAT: /assemblyaddingredient <item keyword> [number]
 Add an ingredient to your assembly list

/assemblybegin

 FORMAT: /assemblybegin
 Initiates a text based method of assembly

/assemblycancel

 FORMAT: /assemblycancel
 Cancels an assembly session

/assemblydisplay

 FORMAT: /assemblydisplay
 Displays currently selected assembly ingredients

/assemblydisplayrecipes

 Remove an ingredient from your assembly list

BankEdit

These commands require you to be standing with a bank NPC targeted.

/bankadditem

 FORMAT: /bankadditem <item keyword> [stack number]
 Moves item(s) from your inventory to your bank.

/bankdisplay

 FORMAT: /bankdisplay
 Displays a comma separated list of items in the bank.
 Display is prefixed with the line '---- Bank Items ----'

 Says "message" to the chat channel mapped to /1
  • These are shortcuts that allow you to quickly change the channel you are speaking on.
  • Usually by starting to type /<number>, you will see the channel name appear.

 FORMAT: /autojoin [view/add/set] [mychannel,mychannel2:mypassword,...]
 Chat channel autojoin list administration command
 Type "/autojoin view" (or just "/autojoin" without any parameters to view the list
 Type "/autojoin add" followed by a list of channels separated by commas to add them to the list
 Type "/autojoin set" followed by a list of channels separated by commas to replace the list
 Type "/autojoin set" without any additional parameters to clear the list

/away

 FORMAT: /guildsay <message>
 Sends a message to all people in your guild

/join

/listchannels

  • This command lists all of the channels you are currently in. It is worth noting that while you can choose to join as many channels as you like, only the first nine will be active at a time.

 FORMAT: /mindsay <message>
  • This accesses the "Union of Thought" channel, available only to Psionicists with the ability "Union of Thought II" or greater active.

/msg FORMAT: /msg <person> <message> Sends a private message to the person you specified.

 Sends a message to all people in your vicinity.

 Sends a message to all people in the same region you are in.

 Sends a private message to your defensive target if your defensive target is a player.

 Sends a private message to your defensive target if your defensive target is a player.

/whisper

FORMAT:  /whisper <person> <message>
Sends a private message to the person you specified.

/worldsay

Chat Colors

In VG you can make different words or charaters different colors. This can be really useful when making macros for buffs or notifying guild members in raids when to burn or hold back etc.

Format: <color=> </color=>

Color options:

Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, White, Black, Brown, Orange, Cyan, Purple, Silver, Gold, highlight

hightlight will be used to highlight current color.

Select the step in the recipe that corresponds with the number, starting from the left in the UI.

Lists your recipes.

/refineadditem

FORMAT:  /refineadditem <item keyword>
Move an item from your inventory to your refining workbench.

/refinecancel

Cancel or end the crafting process.

Moves an item from your refining workbench to your inventory.

Set the recipe you want to use in refining.

EmotesEdit

Note that with target-optional emotes, Vanguard will assume you wish perform the emote towards your defensive target, then your offensive target, if nothing is specified.

Clears the game's caches, causing assets to be reloaded.

/rend

Changes the render quality of the game. (Rend 1 through rend 5 are currently supported)

Prints out a list of your inventory.

/itemuse

FORMAT:  /itemuse <item keyword>
Activates a magic item

/look

FORMAT:  /look <item keyword>, /look corpse, /look <item keyword> corpse
Take a closer look at an item in your inventory, at a corpse, or at an item on a corpse.

Put an item from the current inventory target (either main inventory or the currently open container) into the specified container.

/remove

Stop wearing or wielding the specified item.

/stack

If the "all" keyword is specified, tries to combine all items of the type specified by the keyword into one stack. Otherwise combines the two stacks specified.

/unstack

FORMAT:  /unstack <item keyword> <number to split off>
Forms a new stack of items from the original.

/wear

FORMAT:  /wear <item keyword> [equipment slot]
If no equipment slot is supplied, tries to equip the specified item to its default equipment location.

Promotes a new member as leader of the group. Only the group leader may use this command. If no group member is specified, attempts to use your defensive target.

/groupleave

FORMAT:  /groupname <name>
Assigns a new name to the group. Only the group leader may use this command.

/grouppromote

FORMAT:  /grouppromote <group member name>
Promotes a new member as leader of the group. Only the group leader may use this command. If no group member is specified, attempts to use your defensive target.

/invite

FORMAT:  /invite <player name>
Invites a player to join your group. If no player name is supplied, attempts to invite your defensive target.

MiscellaneousEdit

/afk

FORMAT:  /afk [message]
Toggles your "away from keyboard" status. A default message is used if one isn't specified.

/ambientvolume

FORMAT:  /ambientvolume <volume value between 0.0 (off) and 1.0 (full volume)>
Allows you to set the volume for ambient sounds (such as the nature sounds like wind, crickets, and birds) in game.  "/ambientvolume 0.5" would set the ambient sound volume to 50% of full volume.

  • This accepts a pending invitation to join a brotherhood.

/brotherhooddecline

  • This declines a pending invitation to join a brotherhood.

/brotherhoodinvite

  • This invites your current defensive target, or the named player, to join your brotherhood. This command may only be used by the brotherhood's leader.

/brotherhoodleave

  • This leaves your current brotherhood. Note that there is a cooldown timer before you may join a brotherhood again.

/brotherhoodmotd

  • This sets the message of the day for your brotherhood, which will be displayed to players upon logging in. This command may only be used by the brotherhood's leader.

/brotherhoodname

  • This names your brotherhood, which appears in the brotherhood's statistics. This command may only be used by the brotherhood's leader.

/brotherhoodnote

  • This sets your note field to the requested string.

/brotherhoodpromote

  • This promotes the specified player or your defensive target to leader of your brotherhood. This command may only be used by the brotherhood's current leader.

/brotherhoodremove

  • This removes your defensive target or the specified player from your brotherhood. They will not be able to rejoin a brotherhood until a cooldown timer has expired.

/brotherhoodstats

  • This shows all relevant information about your brotherhood and its members in the chat window.

/bug

  • This opens the interface to report a bug.

/callpcaccept

Accepts an incoming Call of Hero spell being cast on you.

/callpcdecline

Declines an incoming Call of Hero spell being cast on you.

/camp

  • This begins the process of logging you out to the character selection screen.

Changes your "Looking for Group" status.
If the type parameter is not provided, you'll be set as looking for an adventuring group.

/lfm

FORMAT:  /lfm [min level] [max level] [class abbreviations] [message]
Sets your group as "Looking For More" players of the provided criteria.
All parameters are optional, and can be provided in any order, except for "message" which must come last.
Example queries:
/lfm war pal 30 35 Spider Caves - Looking for Warriors and Paladins between levels 30 and 35 for Spider Caves.
/lfm 20 30 - Looking for any classes between levels 20 and 30.
/lfm 50 bmg Good healers only! - Looking for a level 50 Blood Mage.
/lfm Forming a Spider Caves group! - Looking for any players of any level for Spider Caves.
/lfm - Opens the LFM window.
/lfm off - Turns off LFM for your group.

/listcommands

FORMAT:  /listcommands [category]
Displays a list of commands of the provided category that you can use.
Valid categories: abilities, assembly, bank, chat, combat, combatui, crafting, emote, graphics, group, guild, harvesting, inventory, loot, merchant, misc, movement, parlay, psionics, quests, recipetrainer, statistics, taskmaster, time, trade, trainer, traveljournal, ui

FORMAT:  /log <window>
Actively logs a chat window. Using this command repeatedly acts as a toggle. The logfile is automatically generated with a time and date stamp in the name.

/login FORMAT: /login <login name> <password> [Server IP] Logs you into the WorldServer, defaults to testserver.sgo if no IP is supplied.

FORMAT:  /musicvolume <volume value between 0.0 (off) and 1.0 (full volume)>
Allows you to set the volume for music in game.  "/musicvolume 0.5" would set the music volume to 50% of full volume.

/names

  • This toggles the display of names over players' and NPC's heads.

/newchatwindow

FORMAT:  /newchatwindow <window name>
/newchatwindow will create a new chat window with the specified name, as long as a window with that name does not already exist.

/nickname

FORMAT:  /nickname <nickname> <fullname>
Adds a nickname for a player's full name which can then be used for commands that require you to type a player's name, such as /tell, /assist, etc... Do not use quotes around the fullname. Example: "/nickname am Aradune Mithara" would allow you to "/tell am Hello!" which would send a tell to the player named Aradune Mithara.

/pet

FORMAT:  /pet <pet command>
Gives commands to your pet.  Available pet commands:
summon (summons a pet)
follow (make the pet follow you)
stay (make the pet stay where it is)
dismiss (releases/unsummons your pet)

/petition

  • This opens the petitioning interface.

/petname

  • This command allows you to name your pet. Note: Only permanent (Necromancer) pets may be named.

/played

  • This shows the amount of time you have played your current character in the chat window.

/quit

  • This immediately closes Vanguard. Note: Your character will remain in the game world for 20 seconds.

/random

FORMAT:  /select <character name> [Chunk X] [Chunk Y]
Selects a character to play, and if the optional chunk x and y are given, it moves the character to that chunk.
