Repeated Launchpad failures.

Every time I run the launchpad lately, I get the following error popup:

LSStatus Check Failed

Could not read response
The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly.
at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
at LaunchPad.MainForm.ReadLSStatusResponse(HttpWebRequest request)

I have re-installed the launchpad (3.0.0.0).
I have even re-installed the client.
Nothing seems to get me past this error, and I cannot then log in.

What am I doing wrong?

Regards,
~Feanturi.

Well, I can't say if this is related, but the server is down right now. So that could totally be it. You can always check the server status here: http://vgoemulator.net/index.php?p=servers

(It's also available in the menu at the top of the forum "Server List").

The server status page you linked is telling me at the moment I am writing this that the server is green status and there are four players online.

However, I get the same error.

You know, reading the help page about the launcher, it keeps talking about a "setup.exe" that must be run. But the latest ZIP file (for launcher 3.0.0.0) does not contain any such exe file. It just has Newtonsoft.Json.dll and LaunchPad.exe inside it. So I cannot (and do not) run any Setup.exe.

Is there something amiss here?

Check that your firewall isn't just simply blocking the connection? Just a guess if the server is up.

Try this and see what it does but from that error you are not even hitting the login server.

Sigh.
I had checked the logs for both Bitdefender and Malwarebytes and they were reporting they were blocking nothing.
However, after reading this, I thought, hey, let's just switch them off completely and check for sure.

So then I find out that Bitdefender had been (silently) blocking the connection all the time, and not bothering to tell me or log that it was blocking anything.

Of course, my character had last logged out in Bordinar's Cleft. There must have been some kind of faction reset or something since I last logged in, as he was killed immediately by the dwarves there heh. Oh well. :)

Regardless, thank you for the suggestion, I can now log into Telon again.
