Hitching - Any suggestions on how to reduce it??

  1. One of the worst problems I have currently with game performance is hitching. Drives me crazy, especially since I play more than one character. So, evertime my main toon hitches, the other goes flying on past me. I am sure you can understand how much of a problem this is during a dungeon crawl. I've been playing on and off since the start of the year and lately the hitching has become much worse. I hiccup at least once per minute. Perhaps it's the chunk I have been playing in since I've spent the last week there (Ruins of Trengal Keep), but it's a problem regardless.
I've tried the RAMDisk "mod", which worked fine at first but I started to think it was making things worse so I removed it.
I also seem to randomly CTD a lot more too on only ONE of my toons. Very strange considering it's a more recent thing (I've been playing since the start of the year). Sometimes I CTD suddenly, other times I get some weird sound/graphic glitches and crash. CTD happens about once per 2 hours. My other two boxes seem to run VG without many problems (XP with DroxyCoreUI and Vista-64 with DroxUI).

This box runs Vista-32 and I run a single instance of VG on it.
I run on Balanced mode, but have run at both High Quality and High Performance for a while at times.
I use an updated version of the DroxyCore UI.
I've disabled most features of Infomap already.

Any insight or suggestions would be great. Thanks.
  2. Well, I put the RAMDisk back. I figured I should test it again.
I also turned down all particle effects to 0% to see if that helps.
Next step is to purchase an SSD. It really shouldn't come to that, but I am reaching the point where the game is becoming unplayable. I hitch EVERY time I pull a mob now, at least in Trengal Keep. I should probably spend some time in another chunk to see if that changes.
