First paid expansion at SOE Live 2013?

  1. reality check comes to mind

Whatever would possess SOE to sink tons of time and money in an expansion for vg- yes the few 1000 that play it think it is the next best invention after sliced bread but many more walked away for a variety of reasons

It is the age old chicken- egg syndrome, more players would warrant expansion and an expansion would bring in more players

But... vg is 5 years old with a playerbase 1/10'th or less than the other SOE titles and same compared to most comeptition, including much older games.

Would you roll the dice against those stats and odds or decide to focus on a new title with fresh chances

Ofc the whole equation would change if the chickens come home or in this case enough people return to fill up a few servers- but for a game effectively consisting of 1 server.....

as trackrecords go, vg doesnt have a good one- for many reasons- but the reasons don;t really matter anymore- the reality of today does- Probably better to pray for a vg remake with a title without vanguard ;P

Totally agree! AAs are the DEVIL! AAs are a plague! AAs become the cheap content fix to keep players busy grinding mindlessly for months! AAs are a very boring version of the PotA grind that never ends! New expansion with maybe one dungeon and one new raid, and eleventy-umpteen-million new AAs, only $49.95! No thank you!! AAs are the camel's nose under the tent! Do we really want a lapful of camel? Do we really want to see the guilds recruiting "Uber guild has spot for one tank--have 3500 AAs or don't waste our time applying!" That's the lapful of camel I mentioned. Sure, sure, we will only have a few AAs! Riiiiiggghhhtt! And you only have a little bit of cancer, and you are only a little bit pregnant! Sure, I believe that! I say NO to AAs! Bring AA grinding to Vanguard, and I will show you the view of my big, green b u t t as I walk out that door for the last time! Seriously, AAs are the one thing that would make me uninstall without even a second thought or a "try it before you decide." I will not try it! I will just say goodbye! I have seen it all before, multiple times, and I believe what Albert Einstein said: Doing he same thing over and over again and expecting a different result each time is the true definition of insanity. Well, crazy I may be, but insane I am not. I have seen it too many times to expect a different result this time--especially a different result from the same company that made the term AAs a curse word to begin with! You will never control AAs--they will get out of hand, just as they did in EQ1--the only question is how long it will take. If the camel gets his nose under the tent, we are all doomed!
I could see a level increase of 5 levels--but no more than that--if it accompanies some new content! I do not think we can afford to see all current content trivalized by increasing the level cap 10 or more levels. The effect of just 5 levels will be significant.
  3. I would love to see AAs like in EQ or EQ2. AAs are the bomb. Im actually sitting in EQ right now killing stuff for AA-Exp =D

An advertising budget would be nice too.
  5. To the people hating on achievements, care to explain why they'd be bad? I honestly can't see anything but good things from them. They attract new customers/encourage retention and do not, in any way, impact your preferred playstyle. In fact, if anything, they enhance your game experience by incentivizing content across the board, helping ensure that you have people willing to group content with you even if there is no longer an advancement incentive.

I would say achievements should actually be a priority for devs. It seems to me that it's mostly a matter of flagging certain things, creating a UI element and saving the flags serverside. Easy enough and good bang for the buck.
