Is there any way to craft the recipes that aren't your default race's while still on the island? I know once you leave you can do the quests to pick up the ones you don't get by default. For instance I am a Thestran and am up to 200+ faction with Kojani artisans but it says I need a novice tier flag. Am I SOL until I leave the island and travel to CB to get the flag?
Unfortunately yes. This and the fact it's hard to level refining skills on the Isle are my only critisism of the Crafting/Diplomacy lines, but I still wouldn't start anywhere else because the experience in those spheres on the Isle is simply better than anywhere else in the game.
I noticed that it is near impossible or impractical to try and raise something like leather working since none of the work orders raise that skill. I can do outfitting and tailoring but not leather working! The only way to raise it would to fail and waste materials from level 1 up. That is crafting the refining, then the finishing, and wasting all of it.
