Interesting quyestion, but I wonder does their even need to be one?
Just bare with me, if the quest has a level req and/or prereq of lower quests, and the item is soulbound, so you actualyl have to meet the prereq and actually do the quest(s) to get the item rather then buy it from market. Does the item actually need a required level? Say like a crafted item?
If the item is a loot drop and not a quest reward I agree, it needs a level req, but if the quest its is a reward from, requires that anyway, does the item itself changed any by having it?
  2. Because quest gear rewards are soulbound and you have to be the of the level of the quest (by standard, 2 lower than the display level of the quest to see it) there is no purpose behind setting a required level for that reward. The required level for the item is effectively the required level of the quest.
Other items do not work in this manner.

Edit: Forgot to mention, @Stabbas, I'll take a look at your notes today. Thanks for those.

Quest items other than the new 'revised' ones had a standard of setting the actualy required level to the level / level range of the quest, is there a reason that this has been deviated from? A HUGE downfall of this that will affect resource sites is that it will make it very difficult to search for items based on 'required level' due to that the actual required level of the item is 1, but you must be say 25 to do the quest. Im sure a work around will be found, I'm just wondering why this previous standard of setting the required level has / was changed?
  4. Running through it again to see if I missed anything will add as I find,
    Quests
    - Shang Treasure, respawn rate on the chests seems slow had to wait a while before I could find some with only 2 other people in the village.
    - After completing 'Lead by Example' and 'Shang Treasure', I suggest that Master Rahlsu offers you the training quest before offering 'Report to Officer Yu' and then the training NPC sends you back to Master Rahlsu, who will then send you off to Officer Yu. Reason is I spoke with a few new players and they both had missed the training quest and headed straight to Officer Yu.
    - A New Master, was able to get this quest at level 3 straight after completing 'Redemption' the quest mentions an old staff, there are no rewards on this quest and I am not high enough to gain any new abilities at level 3. Suggest this quest does not open until level 4 and rewards the next tier of weapons or opens after you have completed 'A Humble New Beginning'.
    - Avenging Oki, could not accept the quest from followup window, had to decline and click the corpse again to accept quest.
    - Oki's Jewels, was avaliable before I'd handed in 'Avenging Oki'
    - Kojuko Gluttons, was avaliable before I'd handed in 'Avenging Oki'
    - Juu, was given at the same time as 'Lost Fishing Supplies' to me this quest should be opened after all the quests from Oki have been complete as its sending you off to the next location.
    - Juu, mentions about talking to trainers is that area. I have only just hit level 5 and have no new skills to train at this level.
    - Kojuko Manhunters, this quest was already avaliable before handing in 'Juu'.
    - The Unforgotten, this quest was already avaliable before handing in 'Juu'.
    - Manifestation of Jin, quest was already avaliable before handing in 'The Unforgotten Part 2'.
    - Training is Wisdom, quest was already avaliable before handing in 'The Unforgotten Part 2'.
    - Training is Wisdom, no green quest shield above Takashi when he is the quest turn in NPC.
    - Choosing your Path, quest suggests that you can charge the crystal positively or negatively but could only charget the crystal positively. I was playing a Goblin I wanted to choose the negative path!
    - Choosing your Path, the mob that spawns when you touch the crystal to charge positively, has only head graphic, is missing his body.
    - Walking With Lao'Jin, offers the original chest slot reward, not sure if thats intended.
    - Ra'Jin Assault, quest was already avaliable before handing in 'Ghost Wind Academy' quest.
    - Komodo Skin, quest was already avaliable before handing in 'Ghost Wind Academy' quest.
    - Eye of the Beholder, quest was given after handing in 'Supplies for Master Yaol' quest, sending you off to the next outpost before completing 'Komodo Skin' or 'Ra'Jin Assault', it would flow better if 'Eye of the Beholder' was given after the above two quests.
    - Eye of the Beholder, same quest rewards as 'Komodo Skin'.
    - Komodo Skin, same quest rewards as 'Eye of the Beholder'.
    - Harvesting the Land, typo 'stucck'.
    - The Final Steps, quest was already avaliable before handing in 'Eye of the Beholder'.
    - A Parting Gift, quest opened up after handing in 'The Final Steps'. Reading through the quest im sure this shouldnt be avaliable till you return to Shaof to hand in 'The Final Tests of Jin'.
    - The Final Tests of Jin, again I dont think this should become avaliable until you have completed 'Ra'Jin Senshi' and 'Abducted Woman'. This quest was avaliable before I had handed in 'The Final Steps'.
    Misc
    - Master Kaol, has a red quest shield above his head because its a level 8 training quest with a new weapon reward. I have completed ALL the quests, killed more NPC's than I needed to including 3 dots and am not even halfway through level 7. He is also offering me 'The Final Steps' which is sending me off to the next outpost. experience needs to be increased so that you are hitting level 8 by the time you meet Master Kaol.
  5. Updated with latest feedback, sorry Tloch dont want you to feel I'm ripping apart your design. I just felt when I ran both characters through the starter area (Shaman and Psioncist) the experience curve did not match the quests, especially the training quests. I was getting to areas and trainers when I had not gained the appropriate level. The flow of the whole line felt disjointed and all over the place, I could see some sort of path but with quests opening up and sending the player off to the next outpost before completing the objectives in that area first just felt wrong.
  6. After completing Eye of the Beholder quest and turning it in, I received another quest to go see my trainer and get weapon upgrades. Our group was level 7. My Raki Druid was not able to get the training quest and the quest giver's Shield was red, looks like level 8 for the Druid Raki.
  7. @Micstruth: The training quest is incorrectly set to be level 8 and only show up at level 8. Our standard is to show quests two levels earlier than the quest level (so in this case, at level 6). I'm currently working on the experience curve and trying to make the training quests fit right with the level progression. I don't want to just artificially bump up the experience rewards, since that's not a true solution. In my last playthrough internally on a Druid, I was around 10% through level 8 when I got the training quest.

@Stabbas: Don't worry about ripping into it. I'd rather you rip into the design without reservation so that it can improve that much more. Truth be told, when I first looked at this area and began revamping it, a lot of stuff wasn't very organized and I wasn't as confident in changing past design as I am now. Keep ripping the design a part where you think that it is of poor quality. So long as you also give suggestions and solutions, it's extremely helpful information that we can use. I'm positive everybody will be happy with the polishing I've done to Tanvu based on your feedback.
  8. I played thru Tanvu during the last 2 days with an Orc Dreadknight.
    * Levelling curve: My level always fitted the questlevels I encountered, +/- 1, but I admit I am the kind of player who kills a lot more critters then strictly necessary, simply because I do not always take the direct routes and tend to go back and forth in order to see and find stuff I may have missed.
The harvesting / crafting trainers are encountered in Tanvu city, and one has to go back in order to harvest the starter nodes. That disrupts the flow of things a bit. Not too much, but maybe worth a consideration to put lower nodes in the area after Tanvu town.
    * Beast of the XYZ: I agree with Stabbas there, small group seems appropriate. So far I managed to solo the bird (using all resources, racial ability etc.) at lv 10, the beast of the land killed me twice so far.
    * Ra'Jin Stronghold: Several technical issues there:
    - Reproduceable lag on the stone stairs leading to the main building.
    - Several mobs jumping me out of the walls, noteable in the area after the 1st ramp in the yard.
    - The cherry blossom trees and bushes were flickering in and out of existance.
    - Odd mob animations in the last room before the boss in the main building: Some where not animated at all, another was speeding around the gallery of the room without running animation.
    * Rooftops quest: I did not find a entry point to jump up onto roofs, and the ones I considered suitable did not allow the jumps I thought appropriate. I found that one frustrating and it was "read spoiler or abandon".
    * One or two of the poets in Tanviu town had messed up textures on their ropes. Sorry, I did not write down the name, but I submitted an in-game /bug.
All in all an enjoyable experience so far, with the Ra'Jin Stronghold requiring me to turn a blind eye towards the technical issues in order to still enjoy the challenge (which I very much did).
    Firm.
  9. for god sakes put a rogue trainer in tanvu ...

oyea the boat at the docks never comes??
  10. tomyquijote wrote:
Hey Tomy. There is a lightfighter trainer in Tanvu named Akichi Ji. You can find him in the southwestern most building in Tanvu.
  11. TLoch14 wrote:
I think what he (and the rest of us have been saying) is/was do away with the generic trainers (no one really likes them) and put the actual class trainers back in :)
  12. Karii wrote:
Not only that, some generic trainers do NOT teach all abilites, most noteable is Psionicist, at level 8 I could not learn Syncronization from a Spell Caster Trainer, but had to head to my class trainer. Then at level 10 I had to yet again find my class trainer to learn 2 more abilites that the Spell Caster Trainer didnt have.
Rogue trainers also sell unique rogue equipment and items, above all else add a rogue merchant to Tanvu.
  13. Stabbas wrote:
Tanvu would be considered a Major city, like Khal, Ahgram, New Targonor, etc.. following along those likes it should have the individual Class trainers like all other major cities do..
  14. After the next game update, Akichi Ji in Tanvu should be selling the Rogue specific items that the other Rogue class trainers offer.

Regarding class vs archetype trainer ability lists, are there any other inconsistencies that you've noticed? I apologize if they've been reported elsewhere and we missed them.
  15. quest: kojuko manhunters
    quest level: 6
i did the quest while i was level 5 ( yellow), item rewards have a lvl 6 minimum level, so cant wear it.
also there are 2 items to choose from that offer constitution.
one with 1 con 2 hp 4 energy and the other with just 1 con 6hp, seems weird.
in the same quest line few steps before there was also Con on my caster legs, something going wrong here?
item names: kojuko hoop, kojuko beating flesh greaves

    quest: manifestations of jin
    2nd waypoint: nothing there
update: after searching the entire island i found it roaming around the corner out of los.
item: lao'jin apprentice robe, only has enery on it while all other rewards have stats + hp/energy
Quests: eye of the beholder, komodo skin from laojin master yaol , have exactly the same reward, and the quests are likely to be picked up at the same time. really strange
  16. Playing Tanvu on live server, a couple of things to note so far:
    Quest: Kojuko manhunters
    Level: 6
Like some others, I arrived at this quest at lvl 5 and found it quite difficult with a druid as had only Lightning Strike I, but is soloable.
    Quest: Training is Wisdom
    Level: 6
Quest given by Master Tallon, the completion chunk shown is wrong (shows Cliffs of Ghelgad instead of Tanvu).
    Quest: Battle Training
Level: 8, given by Master Kaol
Same issue as Training is Wisdom quest, completion chunk shows Cliffs of Ghelgad.

    • There does not appear to be a vendor to sell loot picked up between Dallerjuba Village and Tanvu. My main backpack was filled up doing all quests between the two locations. Perhaps give the option to sell loot to one of the trainers in that area.
    • Master Yaol in Ghost Wind Academy and Master Kaol at Tanvu entrance both offer the exact same rewards for quest turn-in (choice of 1 of 4 Kojuko Masks)
  17. Quest: Eye of the Beholder - there are like 5 mobs that spawn in a tiny area for a kill 10 quest that are not respawning with 4 people waiting on them. The Kojaku's have very long spawn timer...
    This is on live server.
  18. Just played up to Ra'Jin fortress on live server.
Didn't notice many issues until getting to the fortress.
Quest: Abducted Woman - only updates for the first group member who runs close to her. This MOB must be visited by each grouop member to udpate the quest and the spawn time it LONG.
As noted there is terrible lag at the bottom of the steps up to the top of the temple. Coming around the left pillar at the base of the stairs the game drops to single digit FPS and group members shoot off everywhere. Once past there things return to normal but it is chaos for a while.
Rooftop quests: impossible with a group! After getting everyone up to the first roof chaos decsends again when trying to jump to another roof. Half the group members fall to the ground on top of other mobs, some make it to the next roof and must fight the MOBS there.
The jumping is fun solo but maybe bamboo bridges between the roofs would be easier for a group quest.
I can't see myself completing these quests in a group and no chance of getting to the master at the end.
Other than those issues this starting area has a great oriental feel, well done.

The rooftops is actually *way* easier with a group. If someone happens to leap too far and fall, someone else can rope them back up onto the roof instead of having to go all the way through again.
I had actually sent a /bug regarding the stairs lag.

    There is a rope?
Now I can see that making life easier. How does it work?
