I tried the alienware free wildstar weekend event this last weekend. When i first started playing I didn't really want to like the game, I don't like the sci-fi setting and the graphics are kind of like how they are on WoW. But after playing it through for the whole weekend I have to say that it is actually a pretty fun and interesting game. It is unsurprisingly a far cry from vanguard though, in reality its a high paced button masher where you have to watch the ground a lot for "void zones" or whatever you want to call them where mobs do a telegraphed attack that hits an area on the ground that you are warned about. You can interupt them most of the time though with certain abilities.

I didn't really get much into the lore of the world but I think the combat and zones are really cool. I did one of the instances, there is only 2 available at level 20 atm. The bosses were some of the most interesting encounters I have seen in low level content. Not saying this game will appeal to most of the people that like vanguard, but it did for me, to my surprise.

I have to admit, the more I've seen of the game, the more interested I've become. At first I was a bit put off with the idea of so few races and classes there were, but it looks like they did it in the interest of keeping their game play goals and balance within scope. Their housing and PvP stuff seems promising so far too from what I've seen. The main thing I'm dying to see in action firsthand though? The Adventure scenarios.

I also really dig the humor and sci-fi setting. Their dev blog vids and trailers genuinely make me laugh out loud at times.

It's definitely going to be night/day different from Vanguard, but I have moved firmly into the "looking forward to getting my hands on it though to at least try it out" crowd.
