I have a druid alt and your hints will help me to play him better. I read your post with interest. Thank you. Message boards aren't only made to satisfy the OP. ;)

By no means did I mean to give you the impression that I ignored your post. I was just looking for more information on which class might be better or more valuable. I do appreciate the response. But I do feel that I am a decent player and am concerned that this toon is going no where... but didn't want to waste time on a psi to find out I was 2 levels from Druid Awesomeness... but no harm was meant. sorry.
  3. While not as structurally complex as some other classes in VG... When you get a druid that excels at their class, they blow everyone away in their role.
There is quite a bit of learning when it comes to a druid. There are some simple basics, and some more advanced levels.
There is a large difference amongst a druid in a group, vs a druid in a short raid fight, vs a druid in a long raid fight. There is another level when you have to "save" for that special time to outshine everyone else.
Versatility aside... if you are 100% committed to a druid and learning everything about the class.... you will be an extreme rarity in the game. There are a lot of mediocre druids, there are a decent number of good druids, and there are a handful that really push the class to its ultimate limits.

Truly, this can be said about most/all classes in VG, and is by no means to be taken as an insult to anyone.
I've given out a basic guide for the higher end raiding/grouping druid to TASC: http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.as...TopicID=7998313
Now, those aren't exactly the rules/macros I use these days, but it is a decent guide for the up and coming druid.
When it comes down to it, you have to understand the "power" of your abilities and when best to use each.
    For instance:
You mentioned taproot and running OOM. Well.... When low on energy, root your mob, back up, cast okeli's, and taproot. At higher levels, you won't be able to use such a method, as the mobs become increasingly more immune to root. In cases such as this, hit okeli's, use mottleberries, and run far ahead of the mob. Turn 90 degrees (to ensure you've stopped forward motion) click taproot, and cancel/click it off once the mob gets too close.
All in all, a druid can continuously kite with 0 downtime once you've figured out your abilities. The same can be said for a PSI, or any other caster. You will see Necro's in game soloing/kiting things you cannot. The same for a PSI or a Sorc. Likewise, you can kill more consistently, and w/ less hazard than them most of the time.
The big fun with the druid is pumping out millions of DMG in just a few short seconds, while everyone else's jaws drop to the floor.

You can have fun with either class. If you put your mind to it and learn the game and class mechanics, you will be desired by any group/guild with a spot for a caster.

GUAR fight, 2 mins, 10s.. no "bells and whistles" clickies, just a QJ, gear, and group setup (bare in mind this is a full raid of T3 PoTA geared most with epics etc..)

And yes.. Yavlp hates parsing "you" so really it ended up higher when someone else parses (around 18k w/o pet) this one came to 16,585 DPS.

Bolded for emphasis. Too many people seem to think that simply by following a set ability order, they will be good. No. While a general idea of macros / cast order can be a good platform, there is simply too many intricate details for most classes that you have to understand the class, and the game mechanics in general, to really excel.
  5. I crafted some nice focus weapons for my casters.(each caster carrys two weapons )You may want to consider making or having some made .I wouldn't play my casters without them.
  6. If you're a caster...beg...borrow...steal focus weapons made by a knowlegable minerologist.
  7. On your druid if you don't have room to kite while fighting don't use your minions since they break the root on your piercing roots. Just have patience, don't try and burn down every mob. At 51 you will get a pet fairy with 10k+ HP's which is very nice for soloing, like if you need some soloing in Magi Hold or something. Personally I rarely use my starfall, deadly swarm, or earthquake and instead save those phenomona points for soothe in case I start getting hit or the healer starts getting hit. I guess I play mine more for utility than DPS but I really enjoy it.
Oh and I'm not sure if you have got Fireseeds yet but use them as often as you can, decent damage without using any energy or PP.
  8. What? Druids get another toy at 51? one more level to go, I can't wait. I love my druid. I can handle most 3 dots 1 level above me but its close. I am one of those ok druids but still learning. Druids rule.
  9. I started reading this topic and felt bad for the OP, by level 38 your druid should be doing amazing dps. You say you have trouble with even 2 dot mobs? Are you kidding me? You can one shot them for 1 phem point.
Do the math, you get 1 phem point every 30 seconds if you count your regen rate and your restore spell. So use that knowledge to properly manage your phem points. Eat up as many phem points as you possibly can without running out, taking into account group med and/or your own med.
My druid at the same level (I'm 38 too :) can go for a very long time without running out of mana or phem points jsut because I'm properly managing it. I'm also on top of the parse as far as damage out put goes.
Running out of mana? How the fudge do you run out of mana on a druid? You have an ability that basically regens all of it. In a group? Use it whenever you need to, even during a pull. Solo kiting? Use it even during a pull. Root the mob, run out a distance, cast your mana regen spell. If your root breaks then stay put till the mob gets close and then break the mana regen to get more distance.
Seriously though; my druid is by far the best soloer in my arsenal of eight various 30-55. The only one who can do more is the disc but the druid still gains xp way faster cause of his superior dps. The disc can just go into dungeons and what not. But the druid is still by far a faster killer. So much fun :D
