Holiday Design Bug Fix Wish List

    My New Years resolution is to fix as many bugs in Vanguard as possible. To do this I need your help finding the bugs that you guys hate the most. So if you know an ability, quest, or item that doesn't work right? Post it here and I will dedicate some time in the new year to try and fix as many of them as possible. Please make sure to include exact names will correct spelling and a good description of the issue so that I can fix it faster.

    •Bug: Chath Encounter/Magicborn Teleporter Malfunctions (GYG has reminded me of THIS one).
    •Synopsis: The teleportation into the chamber/area of play doesn't always work.
    •Description of Bug: In order to engage Chath and Magicborn, your group/raid needs to get teleported into the chamber. Quite often the characters are left behind. We are not exactly sure what causes it, but in our experience we've had greater luck if: The chunk is recently reset. Characters do not wear any illusions. No pets are spawned. Characters remove Sorc ward buffs. We suspect that characters might be reflecting or even resisting the 'spell' that is cast on them to teleport them inside.
    •Steps to Reproduce it:
    1. Get a standard group together for Chath run, Level: 50+ characters. Tank, Healer, 4DPS. Go to Heroes' Plain Chunk, to the start area.
    2. Spawn the quest on at least one member of the group. (Quest name is Griffon's of a Feather: Chp 5 Creepy Cadavers)
    3. Have the quested group member hail the portal and click the dialogue. Observe if characters make it in. If they all make it in, go in and have the group wipe (We suspect this might have something to do with it as well)
    4. May need to do this a few times, especially if the chunk was reset/woke up. Eventually players will be left out.

    •Other Notes: The fact that these events have a timer makes this even more irritating, if half your raid gets left out on Magicborn you have to wait 30 minutes to try again - only to have it happen over and over.

    •Bug: Trade Bug
    •Synposis: Trading between players has adverse side effects on the character receiving the trade invite.
    •Description of Bug: The person receiving the trade will, upon closing the trade window, become bugged as the follows: : Health drops, EE's fall off, Set Bonuses no longer applied, Aug effects dropped.. The character that initiates the trade seems to avoid it.
    •Steps to Reproduce it:
    1. Get two characters. Suggest using two level 55, fully auged out characters in POTA gear.
    2. Character 1 initiates trade with Character 2.
    3. Trade item, close trade window.
    4. Observe Character 2's health, set bonuses, stats, etc.
    5. Removing and re-equipping gear seems to help, though most players insist on a relog after trades.

    Note: This is particularly annoying as players may need to relog and mess up other buffs/equipment/skills in order to fix the issue.

    The word wrap algorithm is horribly broken. Whenever you use colour codes or item links in text, it will wrap incorrectly. It looks like it's using the length of the whole string including tags to base wrapping on, when instead it should be using the string with the tags stripped out.

    This has annoyed me since I first started playing VG way back in 2007 because it looks horribly unprofessional and it's such a trivially easy thing to fix.

    I'm sure there are lots of other annoying bugs I'm not remembering at the moment ;)

    •Bug: Slow Bird
    •Synposis: Sometimes, especially while chunking, the flying speed of a flying mount will change to the run speed.
    •Description of Bug: While using a flying mount, sometimes your speed will become that of the run speed of the mount. In addition, you will appear to be bouncing in the sky. If you are flying near the land, you could be attacked by mobs as they see you falling to the ground every few seconds. In addition your group will also see you dropping from the sky every few seconds, however to the affected character's perspective, they are not falling, just flying very slow. (The only indication that you are affected by this is slow flight). After the last few updates I find that I Slow Bird after almost every chunk crossing. (Especially if I have speed buffs on).
    •Steps to Reproduce it:
    1. Get a character with a fast flier: Suggest Venerable Griffon or POTA Epic mount (Nightmare of Chaos, Pegacorn of Order). Give character at least one speed buff: Talisman of the Grove, for example.
    2. Rift to Kamelott Landing/Shores of Darkness.
    3. Fly from Kamelott Landing to The Forgotten Battlefield (One chunk north).
    4. Once you enter The Forgotten Battlefield, observe speed. This happens almost every single time in this chunk for me.
    5. If you try this from Skawlra Rock to Pantheon of the Ancients, you get dismounted almost every time, and given "God Walk". The game seems to think you're in POTA and dismounts you, then zips you back to where you chunked in.

    Note: This seems less likely to happen when I use a slow flier (SC mount, Randolph, young gryphon, rental mounts) or when I don't have any speed buffs.

    the strange thing about this bug is that it seems to be ok with the patch today, but now i'm getting dismounted about 50% of the time.

    another chunk line you can easily test is the one between skrillen point and strand of the ancients.

    certain npcs are not spawning. the trade broker inside the tent in seawatch coast will disappear. a few others off the top of my head are the soldiers inside rt, and one of the trade brokers inside khal.

    i've seen other npcs disappear as well, but those are the most frequent ones that i've noticed.

    Yeah the slow bird bug is one of the most annoying. It happens a majority of the time any time I cross a chunk line while flying. It is almost every time chunking from Skrillen Point to Strand of the Ancients that I get knocked off my bird but am still "flying" although at regular running speed.

    it used to happen a lot with the chunk line between bod and afrit as well but once the no flight restriction was removed, it stopped happening as frequently

    Dual wield bug. With characters that equip two weapons, when you loot or compare an item that goes in your hand, you wind up with one of your equipped items disappearing or moving to the other hand. This is only graphical and I think it only affects that player, in other words anyone watching you still sees the proper items.

    Similarly to slow birding, crossing the line from Tush to Three Rivers often results in a dismount with no parachute.

    So a lot of these are code bugs which means I can't really fix them. We can add them to the code queue but code has a lot more bugs in their queue then design right now.

    How about the way druid berries only go to the target and not the group. Same for healer gems.

    Design bugs eh? My Thestran Human bard still has the **** he received with the F2P patch. Figure that one out.

    I agree that this is obscene. They shouldn't be that pointed. Apaelion's breasts need to be much rounder.

    1. The shaman Life Ward line is currently toggling off rather than refreshing, if any ward remains from a previous casting. (I'd be suspicious that this issue may exist for the Aegis of Life line as well, but I can't test it since I don't have enough spell refresh haste handy.)

    I wouldn't go so far as to call them bugs, but have these too:

    2. The Hayatet buff "Purging Flames" is a straggler in that it still targets only a single person and lasts only 15 minutes, even as other buffs have been brought into line with the "groupwide 60 minutes" standard. Would be nice if Purging Flames could be updated.

    3. It would also be nice if the shaman skin buffs (Skin of Tuurgin, Skin of Rakurr, Wings of Hayatet) would persist through logouts.

    Hey, I'm not done yet it turns out.

    The disciple's Feign Death wears off after 5 minutes, but this timer is not displayed anywhere. If the time limit is deemed important to keep, please let players see it just as we see timers on every other effect. I do not know if the monk's ability is subject to the same issue.

    Good lord, yes. Summoning rez stones for our entire group at once would be much nicer. Reduction in cast time would be good too. I might actually remember to hand them out it were made simpler. Since specific names were requested, the abilities in question are Summon Symbol of Unity, Summon Sanguine Shard, Summon Gem of Life, and Summon Spirit Orb.
