I know I mentioned it in another thread but when you are going forward I really hope you don't destroy current content for the revamped versions. I'm ok if two versions exist (an idea for how to do this have old version drop a reusable item to spawn the new one like the golem control wand or a quest for a general item that can spawn the revamped versions or port your raid to a new chunk with the new version although if you do have a port make sure it only allows one raid at a time), but I don't think the old ones should go away there should be options for raid progression for newer guilds/players.

Additionally, I would like to know if these special augments are going to require us to destroy items to get them because I like to hold on to my old raid gear and remember how I got various pieces, and am still hoping for the eventual option to display it in a house.

Think I remember reading somewhere that you don't think additional inventory space will be needed, but could we please get additional bank space? If I'm supposed to eventually replace everything I'm carrying around/wearing I'm going to need someplace to put it.

I'm very worried about this... I'm afraid that I will have to go farm another set of APW gear so that I can keep my appearance. I really miss my APW set bonus though.

So let's say for instance I take my Core sleeves and convert it to a Special Augment and choose to continue wearing my Shendu Robe which has the equivalent of two Special Augs. I would be able to use my Shendu Robe and Sleeve effect like we could previous to the clickie changes? Simply looking for clarification.

Also based on the pic, CoW dropped armor isn't Unique which is going to allow us to aug out alternative sets?

yet, according to a dev post, we wont need more storage space in the future for this new gear, I am wondering how this magic will be accomplished.

Just wanted to say thank you to the devs for all the hard work on the new content and fixes. It gives people a reason to return to the game.

I have to say, I am excited about the new gear and CoW zone update. It makes a lot of sense to implement a system like this because it will take less time to itemize new content balance it's difficulty. Hopefully this means it will be easier to release content like stiirhad that is already partially complete and give it meaningful rewards.

I have a few thoughts related to different concerns and ideas.

One big concern of players is overall player power being reduced and previous time spent progressing characters suddenly having no benefit. They did say current gear will be useful for a good amount of time before it is replaced and as long as it is somewhat gradual then it feels like normal progression. That is actually part of the strengths of using a armor system like this is that they can easily adjust player power to scale gradually through the content and by the time you finish all the CoW armor there should be a significant increase in overall stats vs current gear. (if not it would give players little incentive to change gear) They also mentioned removing stat caps which should allow for more flexibility and player power but more importantly meaningful upgrades.

Losing EE's does not seem to be a problem with the special augs and being able to convert existing EE's to specials.

I do agree that HP's and energy needs to have it's own augs or be a relation to the level of defiance aug.

The defiance -> etherence conversion could make transitioning gear smoother and cause less of a need for carrying multiple sets or builds. The level of defiance aug being converted could serve as a measure of progression so as you progress through CoW you could get access to higher tiers of defiance -> etherence with the highest tiers being for CoW items only.

As far as old content being converted to the new system and the mentor stones this could be a good thing as long as it is NOT required for progress and used to supplement NEW content by giving alternate means of progress but at a slower rate.

My biggest request for development though, for the love of all that is reasonable, make some new armor/weapon skins/models. We have worn rags and the same few decent looking armor pieces in the game, for a long long time now. Most of the existing armor is embarrassingly ugly to wear. I would imagine the promise of new looking armor in CoW would have lots of people excited about it.

I understand that not every dev is gifted in graphic design and it takes extra time/resources but if you can reskin mounts for the SC store you can update some textures on the new armor.

I was very disappointed when the lower level item revamp happened and none of the items had a new appearance.

That is the goal. Cave of Wonders is going to be designed as a entirely self contained Tier with everything needed to progress through it there with additional overland raids being converted to offer progression within the same Tier difficulty. Some players might need the overlands to progress because they need the extra gear for the defiance but it should be possible to do all of CoW without having to do any converted raids.

we are still waiting to hear what being converted means. do existing targets cease to exist in their current form? or are these the new, scalable encounters using existing NPC's as their base. This question also seeks to answer the loot table questions, Is existing loot gone and replaced by the COW model, or will we still have our current paths of loot progressions for outside of COW.

when games change and new challenges are presented, I think that alot of people are forgetting that in many aspects the devs are adding dynamics changing world, do old enemies never rise again perhaps become stronger or change tactics? is that what so many in this forum are advocating? I have played VG from beta till now with a few absences of course, however i think that many may not remember when VG sat adrift on still waters, receiving no content, no updates, no fixes. I see the fear in these posts, the fear of all the time and work invested being negated by the new content, but remember your roots, most play this game because it is the most complex game out there, those that truly comprehend this game are elite among mmorpg players.

I would propose that instead of forcing Wigin to a hand holding, damage controlling role in these forums that you offer your criticism, suggestion, concern in the form of a question. For Example

    Sir Wigin

    1. What specific raid mobs are you going to convert? will we have to break the strats on encounters again? (not a bad thing, for raid mobs we no longer kill anyway)

    2. It would seem that the new content gear is meant to be mixed and matched and swapped with the old gear is there any plan to pull back the veil and offer a explanation or are we keep relying on our own investigation/mathmatics? If you can offer more explanation on how we would integrate the old game stats with the new content stats, it would benefit the old players and the new.

    3. New gear with old models gives a feeling of things being rushed or just renamed, is there plans for new armor models? btw if you want help with artwork or model creation ask the player base for submission contest etc ask us and we will help out :)

    4. Vanguard classes can be very complex do you plan to implement new AI or Mob behavior to provide more challenges that require class interaction? would like to see some new combat that is more that tank, heal , debuff etc ( classes like to feel important to there group and not just DP?

    5. Can you outline some of the perks or innovation that makes this new content stand apart from previous content other than defiance and ferocity?

    6. Will diplomacy buffs s be allowed in this new area, or is that benefit being removed from most new content?

Anyway no need to respond negatively to this post, i don't care if you liked or not, my only intent is for those that are dedicated to this game to be constructive in these type of forum discussions
GL Wigin keep your head up haters are gonna hate:)
