New Character - Max level before Sunset?

Thought about starting a new character and attempting to get it to the max level before sunset - is this possible or don't I have enough time? Also, would it be better to subscribe to speed this along or is FTP ok? Thanks. Also, what is the MOST populated server to help me getting into groups?

You will be able to do this without problems. I also think the double xp will last until sunset. The most populated server, is the only server :)

Yes this is definitely possible, even for a newb. If you just want to get to max level asap, don't get super hung up on waiting for groups for certain dungeons to form. There are some areas of gear and weapon progression where you will need a group or high level to push you through. If your efforts to find a group for anything aren't going well, just ask for a high level to help. You will nearly always get help.

Probably the best resource sight for VG right now is thetelonproject.com. Just so you know.

An experienced player can go from lvl 1 to an epic 55 in less than a week played (includes leveling diplo to 50). That's without permanent double xp. The challenge you would face isn't related to the time remaining, but how easily you can meet people. Same advice if Telon weren't being shut down, find a guild that fits your play style.

How possible it is depends on how you play the game and what support you have. You can get to 55 in a weekend if you go for the most efficient route possible and have a buff army + geared level 55 toon to mentor down. I don't know how long it will take without that because it's been a really long time since I was in that position.

As a rule of thumb, stick to 4 dot mobs that are around 4 levels higher than you and pull as many of them as you can comfortably handle. This is likely to be more mobs than you think, so push yourself til you find the limit.

Get as many buffs as you can, including civic buffs. You can get Khal and Tanvu buffs at any level, and Renton Keep buffs past level 10. After level 30 you can get all civics, so hit up Khal, Renton Keep, Seawatch Coast, Wardship, Tar Janashir, Tanvu. When all buffs are up (which they are if someone is raiding, and frequently otherwise) they will make you significantly more powerful.

There's numerous ways to power level, but my usual route is something along the lines of:
    • 1 - 11: Anywhere
    • 11 - 13: 3 dot ants outside Renton Keep ant mound
    • 13 - 20: 4 dot ants inside RK ant mound
    • 20 - 30: Trengal Keep; start with entrance mobs and work your way in. Once you get to about 26, head up to the walls. There's level 30 mobs up there. If you can't kill the dungeon mobs at level 20, get a level or two on the 4dot spiders outside. Sometimes I'll go to VT at level 28, but you can't rift there yet so you have to fly from Kaon's Rush.
    • 30 - 38: Either Vol Tuniel dungeon or Dargun's Tomb or a mixture of both
    • 38 - 42: Graystone; blessing 4 area only.
    • 42 - 45: Tricksters; I do some of the questline there in order to get beyond the painting for the higher level mobs and also for the various keys which are useful later if you don't have them.
    • 45 - 48: NN 4 dot area, ToT temple mobs (don't flip just kill everything), Mnalus Cave or RI. RI mobs are less efficient to kill at that level, though.
    • 48 - 50: KDQ to get the faction neck, because I don't get the IoD one.
    • 50 - 54: Old Targonor (do the dungeon, contrary to popular belief clearing the dungeon is significantly more xp than crappy shield groups and will get you a decent set of gear. It's also significantly more fun.)
    • 54 - 55: PotA and CoB entrance quests, or just go all the way to 55 in OT. It doesn't really matter at this point.
I generally don't do any quests until level 48 when I pick up the KDQ quests, and then the OT quests at 50. If you can't be bothered with KDQ then you can start killing in the OT dungeon at 48 if you have a good group, but you can't get the quests til 50. Where at all possible, avoid just standing in one place. That's boring. Trash the entire dungeon and kill everything. If you die, so what? You'll get the xp back in a couple of kills. Big deal.

If you don't have high level toons to mentor down then pick a DPS class. A monk or sorc would be a good choice for their high burst DPS. Remember, the more DPS the better. More DPS means things die faster, which means more xp.

    Good luck ;)

This will be my first and only 55. My Paladin is level 44 right now ... I will be going through your guide Lavyndar ... I think I can get him to 55 even in my limited play time.

This route seems pretty nice. Just messing around I think I got around two levels an hour on my sorc, perhaps more during levels 10-30 (and IoD in around two hours?). I wonder just how much faster it can get doing things smart? Never actually gotten OT shields or a leveling OT knights group before, either. Most of my 55's got to cap doing Magi Hold.
